Does knowledge bring sorrow?

I’ve found interesting picture recently, which has a philosophical thought. I would like you to guess the idea of this image. How do you see the connection between a person and the amount of books he/she read?
If a person reads little, he/she can only see the events, rules around him. He/she is happy and doesn’t worry about any global or philosophical problems.
If a person has read some amount of books, he/she can already see some laws of life, some global problems and injustice in the world. The person is not happy any more, maybe he/she feels depressed often, he/she is more nervous. He/she sees only grey color in life.
If someone has read plenty of books, thousands of books, he/she can see the hope and the light even in dark times, he/she perceived the essence of life, he/she is not afraid to look behind the horizon and limits. Usually these people are or were world-famous.
I hope you have caught the idea and my explaining was not bad.
So, one interesting thought may come out of this picture – knowledge often brings sorrow. I mean the second man, who is concerned about world’s cruelty and injustice.

Yes, sometimes knowledge brings sorrow , but only if you stop there and not start for yourself , the things that you should contribute to help remedy those not so good truths in the books you have read.
Besides , it depends on the person , if he keeps reading those books that makes him depressed or down.

I think you explained it very well. That is exactly what this picture says to me. I also see it as life instead of reading. We start out not knowing anything but out own face a happy little life in the sunshine. As we go and grow life shows us devastating things if one were to stop there they may get lost in all the ugly ways of the world. However if one continues to fill their mind over time they can see the light in life again. The lesson is.. no matter how long or hard the road is don't stop just keep going and you'll make your own happiness. I like to sum it up with a saying "if you stop it dont get done"

Yes, knowledge certainly can bring sorrow, not necessarily from reading but definitely from hearing or seeing news stories. Things are worse than ever now because we get more news faster and so we know more about all the terrible things that are happening in the world, and yet we seem unable to prevent them which just adds stress and makes us feel responsible for things we cannot control.
