Do You Remember Your First MyLot Connection?

Whether you call them friends, or followers, do you remember your very first one? I do.
I joined myLot from a work from home site. I knew absolutely nothing about forums, or posting, or anything at all. The site was less than six months old.
I got a friend request from a member named @JoyfulOne . She was not really active, but lately I suggest discussions to her on occasion. Just in case. It would be nice to hear from her again.
I have other memories, mostly good, occasionally bad. There was a discussion talking about how all the various countries had an online reputation for cheating and that was why PayPal did not support those companies. I chose to politely disagree. I got told that I was a dumb old lady and I should keep my ideas to myself because I know nothing.
No reporting or flagging option at that time, at least not that I knew of. So I took my little hurt feelings away to myself, and went to another discussion, emotionally bruised.
I like that we are expected to be respectful of one another. I still like myLot. What a great name Joyful One is.

My first connection would be the person who invited me here (as her referral) in October 2006. That was @pumpkinjam who is still here and active! I had been active on Yahoo Answers and had made quite a few friends there, so I was quite familiar with the discussion forum concept. The idea of earning from it was, however, new to me. I am eternally grateful for the invitation!

I do remember my first connection here. She was from India and used to be on mylot during forenoon, however I cannot recall her screen name . It was thrilling to connect someone on line, way back when I joined. I did not have much idea about mylot and just did not know how to respond to a discussion. I used to post comments below the responses of other users, till I got to know the exact thing. I did not at all understand about earnings in the beginning, which used to be reflected on my page. I did not venture to open my paypal account for few months, till mylot kept reminding me again and again. I did not have any idea about paypal's working so I was little apprehensive to open an account there. But gradually I learnt from other mylotters and never looked back.

Yes, it was a lady from Iceland who used the name of Isasice. She also had a flashing lightbulb as her avatar, which animated on her profile page but would not flash alongside her name in posts, so I resized the gif for her so that it would work fine.
The site was far quieter in those days, so we could easily follow and respond to each other's posts on a constant basis. Of course like many old members she drifted away and has not been here for over 5 years now.

@GardenGerty The avatar issue was quite a simple one to deal with because it is simply a matter of size. Mylot restricted the display size in order to conserve bandwidth, which meant that resizing the gif would solve the problem.
I recollect a vast number of members having difficulty with this, which does become a problem if someone does not have the right software to resize an animated gif. At the time I decided to make a post offering to resize any animation that members were having difficulty with, which did attain a very good response from many people.
This definitely kept me busy for a while, but was worth the effort because I like to see a decent animation working properly.

@GardenGerty I am so glad too. I have made so many friends in here, and I am still making them. That is really fantastic too, as the more friends, the more discussions, the more interaction there will be, and faster earnings.

I had connections before but I could not remember the first. What I can remember is only Hatley. I guess she is still around but I am not sure of it. I had found a certain Hatley but this time there is a first name. I will tag her here just in case, she is the only one that I can remember immediately. There are those that I remember but their names are difficult I have to search them in my followers yet.

and my first input, which was a discussion.
The person who invited me became my first contact by default. Couldn't remember his name, but by this time that has come to me. He was not much interested in 'diving in' and rather tried to build a corpus by referrals... you know... that 25% commission.
I feel like talking about him more! 
Had some actress's photo as his profile pic, and that did pull people to his posts.

I did very little with referrals. I know a lot of people put emphasis on it. I have heard that pictures of beautiful women make people respond to your discussions more.

I have no idea who my first connection was, but I remember why I joined. I was responding to a political discussion I came across while Googling something that was posted by Ted (whose user name escapes me at the moment). Almost rabidly right wing, he had posted something that pushed all my buttons and I joined just so I could comment. It turned out he and I had both lived in Utah and had things in common that weren't political, so we became connections later on. But, he wasn't my first connection - just my first contact.

You do have a good memory. And talking about reporting there was a way. We had to contact GAA and report. I have done that several times. In fact there was one post that had pages of comments and responses all pointing a finger at me. I got that entire post deleted. There was an apology later by the poster.

For me I was on another site and a lady I became friendly with told me about this site so I came and tried to sign up but they said I was already a member which I thought the name was familiar. Anyway I really don't remember this site way back then. I have had a few bad experiences on the other site with some members saying disrespectful things to me so I just ignored them. It is a shame that we have a few like that on here also but I have blocked two people so I won't be hearing from them any more. We should all be respectful of each other.

I don't remember my first interactions here, but I do remember sending a friend request to Hmmmmm, not sure of how many m's should be there. I also liked interacting with ladyluna. I had quite a number of favorites here back in the day, I see a few are still here and hoping more return. I don't remember the first discussions I participated in either. I do know when I first started I practically slept at my computer I was so afraid I was going to miss something.

Yes, I joined with a friend I"d met on another site.. now I can't remember for the life of me what that site was, might have been Yuwie or something like that one (is that even what it's called?). Well she didn't stay active for very long, but I quickly made other connections here as you well know.

I am so sorry you were treated so rudely. I pray the Lord will help you to heal dear lady. We must keep our rude comments to ourselves and just find another post to read if one causes those rude emotions to erupt! I am fairly new and ashamed to say I don't remember my first reply.
