What time do you like to eat in the evening?

My mom was rather OCD about meal times. 5:30 was the time we always tried to eat. I like it best that way myself. It seems that is early enough to not get heartburn, but late enough after lunch at noon that you have a good appetite. I understand that in much warmer climates they like to eat between eight and ten in the evening when things begin to cool down. Some places also take a nap around 2, or a siesta as it may be called. I am still trying to use up food. Tonight we had a microwaved potato, cucumbers, salmon fillets, and the last of the cranberry apple sauce. Oh, and then each of us had a slice of that delicious pressert for dessert. I liked it just as well cold. It is soon time for bed as we will have a full day tomorrow. Thanks for dropping by.

I eat dinner from 7 to 7:30 pm, this is the habit in this country. Nobody has dinner earlier than 7 pm.

What time do you eat your other meals. It seems that is a long time to go without having a meal.

@LadyDuck I would definitely need an afternoon snack. I know that various cultures have different times and styles of meals as well.

@GardenGerty We have breakfast usually from 6:30 up to 8:30 in the morning, then we have lunch from noon up to about 1 pm. This is more or less the same in Northern Italy, while in the south they have lunch around 1:30/2:00 pm and dinner after 8:30 pm.

Too much later than 7 seems to give me heartburn when I go to bed.

@MrZ0mbiesFanatic It honestly is better for your blood sugar and digestion not to eat too late. Take good care of your grandma.

@GardenGerty That's the way my grandma is, which is why we eat before 7 PM since she lives with us.

My parents always served meals at set times too. Once I moved out of my parents' house I completely abandoned such routines and began to live my own way. For me there is no set time for meals, apart from practicality. Obviously my choice of times was restricted while I was working, but since I retired I simply eat when I am hungry.

That is supposed to be healthier, but I would be snacking or munching on something all day.

Our dinner may be lunch also, and then I serve around 4pm. Sometimes it's later if we had a late lunch. Usually it's about 5-6

If we eat heavily at noon, or wait and eat at 2, we may only have a snack in the evening.

I am just like your husband, I guess. I am hungry as soon as I wake up and space my meals out every four to six hours.

I think many people have to fit their meals around their work shifts. You must go to bed late, too.

It depends on what we've got going on. When I was young dinner was always between 5 and 6. I've kept it about that way most of my adult life. These days it's whenever you can get it. The twins have soccer and band.. on band nights they don't get home till 9pm so they don't eat dinner with us. Then on Wednesday the other boys have soccer and we don't have dinner till after that is over. Then with me working I want some down time when I get home before I start cooking, so dinner has been getting a bit later. Tonight I made tomorrow night's dinner to make life easier on me. Now we just have to reheat it when we get home from soccer. I think I should start doing that on nights when I have time as that way we won't eat as many microwave meals so it will be healthier and cheaper.

When I was working I would prepare several meals on my day off to have during the week. It is hard when there are several different schedules in the house.

I prefer to eat around 6 pm. I wake up at around 5 pm and usually want to eat soon after as my last meal would have been 7 am. My meal times are actually 2 or 2:30 AM, anywhere from 5- 7 Am depending on when I get off work, and 6 pm after giving myself time to wake up.

That makes sense for a night shift person.

We used to eat late but now we are older and eat earlier: around six o'clock.

We usually eat between 6 and 6.30pm. That's the most convenient time for us.

I like to eat at 6PM or even 5:30 but I have to wait for the family to all make it in from work, college and events. Sometimes it is 8PM before we are all gathered around the table.
