Yesterday I went to a store in another town and I found a great book sale going on.
They had a lot of books by my favorite author James Patterson and such I haven't read or bought any books of his lately I went crazy and bought 3 books of his which were paperbacks.
AT 4 books for $1 I couldn't pass that up. I love deals like this don't you?
Two were in the Private series of his and the third one was Invisible which I don't remember reading.
Then I found one other book that is about History that looks interesting (it's called a Pocket History) which I have looked through but really want to read the whole thing soon.
All in all I feel good about going out and coming across this deal.

Oh, yes the old RD condensed books. Read a lot of those. I do love a good sale. My daughter and I used to go to Barnes and Noble quite often. Had a Latte and looked over the books. They always had some good ones on sale. I once found some college books on Psychology and got about five relatively recent(then) and paid $5 for the. Good price for college books. You really have to be in the right place at the right time. I am hearing where ebooks took a dive in the financial side of things this past year. We might be going back to actual bound books again.

I once bought a bunch of old Readers digest condensed books in New Zealand for 10 dollars. Then, when I tried to find out how much it would cost me to send them to India, I got a quotation of 160 dollars! I had to distribute them among a number of my friends while coming back.

I can only fancy that deal!
We too used to get some pretty deals (from my standard) till late, but now for some unknown reason the whole business has taken opposite direction and books here are getting overpriced (again, my perspective).
I love to read, now do it mostly on-screen, with some paperbacks thrown in occasionally, and miss the "feel" most of the time.

I wished we had similar deals here at my place. Books are quite an expensive thing here. I dont normally get to read books - especially the Novels or plays kind of - they are too much for my patience - But yes, I love to read very strange kind of things - like Book of Dreams, The Encyclopedia of Spells... these kind of, dunno if they are any specific category. And I wonder if such books are on offer at such prices

These deals are really splendid! Now I can't think of 4 books for $1 so will rather talk in our context. Here we did have a particular store to buy books in discounts. I might be the top customer there.
But then the owner decided he would rather go for the LPG business...

@Marcyaz She goes to all kinds of cheap book stores and even thrift stores. She knows how much I love to read so I usually get at lest 3 when a holiday or birthday rolls around. I do not care where they come from :) as long as i get to read!

That is really a good bargain Marcy.
I used to get free books at several libraries back east.

As a writer (and reader) I really love books and I really love it when my local library has a book sale. Of course the last few times I went they didn't have any books I like, but what is great is they don't charge a certain fee, but just asks for a donation for what we think the books are worth. I try to give them more than enough when I do find a book or two, or three, or....

After I sold my 500+ book collection I stopped buying books--I go to the library like when I was a kid--and it is still a great place for books.
