Pet Peeves

United States
September 23, 2015 12:11pm CST
We all have them. To say that you don't, I simply wouldn't buy it. I would buy the 'Ocean Front Property in Arizona' from George Strait first. I myself have quite a few pet peeves. I absolutely have no use for liars. I am also not a fan of the 'Mr. Know It Alls'. To name just a couple. However, the one I have the most issues with is the 'Superiority Complex'. Those in which put on airs that they are so much better than everyone else. I notice this online in venues like this all so often. It tends to get on my last nerve, and I only have one nerve left. What pet peeves do you have?

A bit more nerve-wrecking than the Superiority Complex is the Messiah Complex. You can see it on the other site (we both know which) when the boss, Mr. A, is speaking to his disciples enlightening them on his profound insight into the essence of being.

Ah yes, you that have a valid point there. That does top the superiority complex. Ok, not to sound mean, or that I am above anyone. I will openly admit, I only read one of his posts and I didn't actually read it, I schemed over it. After the 1st two paragraphs I became lost ( I am not the brightest bulb in the bunch), so simply schemed over the rest to see what the point was.

But you love him anyways, don't you? I'm the same as you when it comes to honesty. How much I charge by the hour? Hmm I never been asked that before, although hubby says I might have to hit the street corner soon (just a joke). For you sweetie, it would be free of charge.

@crazyhorseladycx Oh I love it. I bet ya'll make the sweetest, most adorable couple. You being the feisty one. That would be ideal to me. I love listening to stories, and I bet you have a bunch to tell. Along with all your pet peeves. Now, I can handle everything you thrown at me, except perhaps the trimming of the hooves. I have never done that before. Nope, I didn't faint. I had to take a bit of a break.

i dont like it when people say they are going to do something and don't do it, but then I guess that could be considered lying.. That is one pet peeve that I just don't like. If people are going to say they are going to do something then they better do it.I don't particularly care for the ones who act like they know more than you. that happens more than not too.Thsoe are my two main pet peeves.

@TexanTornado You got that right. They think they are trying to make themselves look good, when in essence, they look horrible. My es husband is a man that meas what he says and says what he means. He can't stan people who lie either. If he gets lied to, they sure do hear about it.

Yes, those that proclaim they will do something and don't, can fall under the heading of a liar. I have no patience for them either. I was taught that when you give someone your word, you should carry it out. I guess that is why I 99.5% of the time refuse to give a promise. I am not fond of 'Know It Alls'. Especially when they tend to talk down to people and half the bull they spew is just that, bull.

Sales assistants who talk on their phones while serving you and not making eye contact.... That's sssoooo rude , and makes me grit my teeth, and count to a hundred so's not to add my bad attitude to theirs...

@DaddyEvil Well, thanks for the info. However, I find it quite rude to be talking and someone interrupt. To me it screams, 'I am more important'.

Uhm... Ladies? I am a salesperson. Just a little while ago (6:30 pm), I was talking to the Verizon representative at Verizon, trying to help one of my customers when a couple walked up. Not noticing I was on the company's phone already talking, they began making demands for my attention... *I have to presume they didn't notice the OLD FASHIONED PHONE I was using as me talking to someone already... * The representative started laughing when I gave my attention to the couple instead of finishing giving him the information he needed to finish his work for my *first* customer. *Yes, I do give eye contact when speaking with someone, whether on the phone or not... I have gotten use to people being rude while I am at work... Honestly? I really don't consider the new couple to have been rude. While I was giving needed information about the first customer's account, they had no way to know that. Nor would I dream of telling a customer that, either! It is not unusual for me to be the only available person that actually CAN answer their questions, anyway... I have had people stop me when I am obviously very busy to ask "just one question" before letting me continue/finish a crucial objective on someone else's account...* When done answering the couple's questions (multiple, not the one they originally ask for my help with), I apologized to both the representative and the original customer, then finished giving the information. *I merely wanted to point out that it may be possible a salesman is not trying to be rude to you, but feels you are the one not allowing him/her to finish his/her job before conversing with you. Of course, I was not a witness to the transactions between you and the salesperson, nor was I privy to the thoughts of the salesperson. All I know is what happens every day while I am at work, myself. I mean no offense, just wanted you to be aware of how it could have happened.*

@crazyhorseladycx I so agree with you. It always reminds me of a book I read about the 'Southern Belles' who can be so polite when insulting someone and can tend to get away with it. For example: Bless her heart, she has the smarts of a lamp post.

Someone asking for help, than telling you are wrong. How do they know if the person is wrong, when they need help? Why are they asking for help if they know the answer already.

@TexanTornado My daughter is this way. it drives me crazy. She will tell us she doesn't know how to do something. but in turn will tell us we are doing it wrong. At that point, I tell her she is on her own. Since, she knows I am doing it wrong. She knows what to do.

@TexanTornado I can see hunting to survive but to be honest I can't think of anyone who can't buy their food at wally world or a grocer where all those slaughtered livestock is sold, what really makes me mad are those idiots who kill predators for no better reason than just cuz they don't like em, it's not our call to tell God what should or shouldn't die just cuz ya don't like em now those same idiots are complaining cuz the deer is over populating and destroying forests, Nature is the perfect setup, there's good reason for all creatures. Oh man, I just can't help myself when it comes to kritters, we've done so much damage to nature that I'd be surprised if our grandchildren have any show their kids.

@rebelann Yes, you have a very valid point. Most all creatures have a reason for being. However, I still haven't found one for snakes, but that is just me. I don't approve of killing something just for the sport of it. I do know many of people who hunt deer, rabbit, squirrels, quail, duck, etc. For eating, and I won't take that away from them either.

I have a thing for those who do nothing and credit for someone else' work, I also hate those who have insist that they are right despite being proved to be wrong. I can't stand the nay sayers.. The ones who start by saying no to every idea and shooting it down while they themselves cannot come up with something worthwhile.

@sofssu That is a shame, but it does tend to happen. It makes me think that people simply don't have a conscious. As for the 'naysayers' as you call them. I agree, they tend to try and bring everyone around them down. I try to not associate with people like that. Now, don't get me wrong everyone has a bad day every so often, but when it's constant, it becomes a drag. Yes, they annoy me big time.

I have a ton! Lately a biggie is people who talk all the time about a single subject that no one else is really interested in, and they never give you a chance to discuss things you want to talk about. It seems we've become a society where everyone wants to be heard but nobody wants to listen.

Hmmm... let me think about this for a moment, please, ma'am.... *DE taps his chin in thoughtfully.* You and I share one very important pet peeve, ma'am. I don't like it when people lie to or about me, either. I prefer to dissociate myself from a liar as much as possible, even going so far as to never speak to him/her again, avoid any contact and if that fails, I CAN be very rude until they finally get the picture. (I have had to do that once, ma'am.) *You getting as tired of me calling you ma'am as I am writing it? DE giggles uncontrollably!* I do have a couple of pet peeves, ma'am. One pet peeve is when a new friend is making fun of my ignorance about a new site I am trying when I am doing my best and still need help. (I thought a new friend was doing this yesterday when I stepped into the wrong thread. It turned out he thought I knew the site better than I actually do, so that was all right in the end.) Let me think a minute more, ma'am... *DE again taps his chin thoughtfully, looks up and grins @TexanTornado and says, "I can't think of anymore offhand ma'am. May I come back later and add another one if I think of one?"* BTW, ma'am? I do hope you enjoy your ocean front property! You're mighty lucky to be offered good ocean front property at a price you can afford!

I am so with you there on the liar part. I simply have absolutely no use for them. Hmm I will take a moment and point out the fact, that I have a pet peeve about being called 'Ma'am'. It makes me sound sooooooooooo old. Although I do use in addressing women even 20 years my Junior. And I suppose it's better than being called Sir when I am female. Ok, onward we go. Perhaps your friend is simply laughing with you, but you are failing to do your own part? That has been known to happen quite often. Yes, by all means return at a later time if you come up with anymore that you wish to share. Well, I think I would prefer to take George Strait over the Ocean Front Property.
