In India we have so many religions, languages, culture......but we are a country bound by certain principles.
Why can not we have one country in the whole world?
Can't we combine all the countries and make one world country......and all can co-exist. We will certainly save a lot that we spend on maintaining the political class, funding wars and spreading hatred...
Let us discuss a dream if mine and make it a dream of all.........

No, we cannot because it will not work. In the year 2000 Europe has been unified, but we are so different from one country to another that we do not feel this was the right thing to do. The populations of all the European countries were more wealth before the unification.

@ashuli We are all too different and if the country had so many people it would be extremely hard to govern. What we can hope for is that people would start to live like brother and sisters around the world, love one another, lend helping hands and there would be no more wars.

Human being, is by nature, selfish, self-centred and looks for short-term gain. Simply because of human nature, whole world under a single administrative entity (a country) is a Utopian idea. However, I sincerely like your positivie way of thinking.

Sure! Your dream is possible. All you have to do is get the powermongers to see things your way.

@cmoneyspinner very true mate! Actually, to quote Edgar Mitchell- “You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a b****."
All we need to do is to get them a higher perspective.

All animals, and that includes humans, define and defend their own territory. So I don't see it happening.

Your dream is good but I dont think this ever happens. Because people are so selfish now a days and some one might think of becoming the dictator to world. Hope I am not thinking crazy .
Also it might be difficult to the ruling party to monitor the needs and things to be done all over the world then there comes the difference of opinions where some revolt against the ruling party and wars might also start.
Also this might become easy to terrorists to travel across the world and go ahead with their destruction work cause if whole world is one then no need of passport VISA or security check. Hope these things make some sense.

I am not sure if it is practically possible since a unique identity has been developed by each region and everyone would like to preserve it .However we can work together as a team to make the earth a better place to live in by fighting together against terrorism and environmental issues.

I think it is not possible. Just like yours, our country has lots of religions and ethnic groups speaking different languages and we can still understand each other because we have our national language and somehow most of us studied the english language. So it is really hard to have one country for the whole world. It remains a dream forever.

@ashuli To hear it will be a happy thing but it is somewhat a difficult deed .
We are living in One Earth ( House ) with different Countries ( Rooms ) .
The variations of language , culture , currency is the obstacle matter .
Some of the states in India was divided into two ..
You also know well .
I don't think it is possible and be implemented in one fine morning
One currency , One Country may come in future only with the acceptance of UNO , Governments and much more Sectors . All have to agree to sign this contract or deal
Oneness is a very very difficult thing ..
The integrity is a nice word , somewhat in country like India been came to success ..Let's See what happens ..

You're dreaming...that would never ever in a million year work and I wouldn't want it to. Maybe the world should/could/might get along better together, but that's questionable also.

Even a global empire would require a counter balance. Rather than one government, a world would have to have no governments and an anti-unification police force that would make sure companies, cultures, or anyone else would never mass together to form a group that could lead to a break down of that system. Now if Mars was colonized, and had its government, and the Earth had a separate government, then you could do it. As long as we are on one planet and that's the area we have, it can't unite.

@ashuli It's not that sad. I like the option of no government, because governments have their own interests and agendas. It's better to be without them, but have a policing agent that can keep the peace. It's human nature to gather into groups and then try to take control of others.

I really have to say this in addition to what is being said here. I wonder if you have wondered after looking back at your relationships with your parents, siblings, friends, spouse and children. Just how many times does everyone have the same and common perception on a given issue. I'm sure you notice the differences and diversification which can bring about fracturing effects to one another.
So just how unified can this one country one world work when all of us are so diversified?
Also diversification brings about more challenges to let each of us have our aspirations which in one way or another help make this world a better place.

It is a lovely utopian idea but too many people are absorbed in jingoistic nationalistic pride, prejudice and patriotism to let it happen.

It's too idealized to come it true.Thousands of years ago,I can't communication with you.In modern society, many kinds of cultures co-exist,we gradully understand each other. So,it's development is toward the ideal. But,the distance of two area is too far, significant difference between two area is exist.

uprooting the barriers between countries is one thing, but unifying the countries as one is another. We cannot expect people 30000 miles away to understand our way of life or rules. Neither can they. Who will govern the whole world? Who will maintain so that there is no anarchy. One currency opens the gate to much greater forgery. As history tells us, Alexander, Napoleon, Genghis Khan all tried to bring the whole world under them, they succeeded....true. But within years of their demise, those empires broke down too. Uniform laws throughout vast landmasses don't hold as people won't be able to identify themselves with them.
