Where To Discontinue An Interaction?

Someone starts a discussion. You like it and leave a comment. They on the other end comment back on your comment and you follow suit.....The sequence goes on until a point comes when you can't enhance it without unnecessarily being too talkative or they at the other end stopping commenting back.
If interaction continues,it is good. You earn from it.But how long should an interaction be continued? When should it be ended?

I don't worry too much about the money. I end a conversation when I've got nothing worthwhile to add to it. But when I do so I'll usually 'like' the previous comment in the hope that the person I'm chatting to will know I saw what they had to say.

@Gina145,Right.'Worthwhile' is the appropriate word.Exchange of comments should continue as long as they are appropriate. In old Mylot and this time also I often see users tend to go on commenting even if they go astray from the main topic.Since here we are paid for interacting,I was confused as to when to stop and when to continue.

If you do not want to go further you can move on.. It is in your hands.

@allknowing,you are right. It's in our hand, but since we are paid here for interacting, often users tend to continue even if further comments have nothing to do with the topic of the discussion.I noticed this in old Mylot and this time also.

@LadyDuck,I do exactly that, but I have seen users here who tend to continue interaction. And more often than not the comments then lose connection with the topic of the discussion. Here I can't decide whether to continue or snap the exchange of comments.

@else34 I have noticed some that start a sort of chat that has nothing to do with the topic of the discussion. I believe that this practice is not well seen by the Administrator. It's hard to decide what to do, but it's better not to encourage people to continue the chat.

I've heard some talk about comments that turn away from the discussion at hand, and I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. Anything possibly to keep that page on the charts in a sense.
I would hope that the majority of the comments and responses are related to the discussion at hand, but we talk about so many things here that it's easy to relate to different aspects of it all.

@Jessicalynnt,Yes,beyond a point comments become meaningless. But in old Mylot and this time also I often see comments that have nothing to do with the topic of the discussion.

@else34 well, some of that is our fault as discussors, it's easy to rabbit trail off in random directions.

I don't think there is any hard and fast rule to that. Just talk up to the point you feel like talking. If you have nothing more to say, don't. Prolonging a conversation unnecessarily increases the notifications of both you and the other person. If his is the last reply and you don't know what else to say, don't reply, maybe like his comment and end there. The other person is not likely to comment again.

I've not run into that yet, but I don't think I'd delete unrelated comments unless they get into areas not allowed on the site.
