Mid-autumn Day, also called Moon-cake Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival, like Spring Festival, which also provides a time for family reunion. It's also a harvest festival, as traditionally, every family would make moon cakes to celebrate the abundant harvest, just like making dumplings on Chinese New Year.
However, with time goes by, people don't want to or need to make moon cakes by themselves. Moon cakes with a variety of flavors have also been commercialized. In recent years, about one month before the 15th day of the eighth month in Chinese lunar calendar, a lot of food vendors begin to sell and promote their moon cakes. A box of delicately packed moon cakes can be sold ranging from a few dozen yuan to even 10 thousand yuan.
The Mid-autumn Day has already lost its original meaning. Those over-priced moon cakes have been alienated as gifts or tools for bribery.
Such kind of moon cake, would you like to have a taste?
