What Does Fall Mean To You?

What do you think of when you think of Fall? It reminds me of a lot of things, gives me good feelings and a feeling of anticipation. Here are just a few things that Fall means to me:
1) Going to the Fair. I love going at night. I love the atmosphere, the smell of good food and the cool nights that it usually brings.
2) Camping and roasting marshmallows and hot dogs over an open fire.
3) Halloween and all the cute kids all dressed up in their scariest costumes.
4) Going to Homecoming in school and attending our school bonfire.
5) Walks through the park while all the trees are decked out in their finest.
6) Watching the squirrels hurrying to gather nuts for the winter. They literally work from sun up to sun down running back and forth from the trees to their nests.
7) Watching the birds fly south for the winter. Although this can be a little sad, we all know that they will be back to mark the beginning of spring.
8) No more mosquitoes.
These are just a few things I thought of right away. What about you? What does Fall mean to you?

@simone10 we Bengalis in India wait in anticipation for fall/spring for the greatest festival here, Durga Puja. The greatest festival out here, celebrating the Goddess Durga's triumph over the Asuras or the Demons, ie. good triumphs evil. Everyone is in a very good mood, celebrating little things, in a festive nature and always eager to get back from work to spend time with family.
In the fall, the monsoon slowly recedes and the weather is not too much hot. It's just comfortably warm and moist and a great time to go out touring the surrounding places with friends and family. We wait all year for this time to come so that we can celebrate and enjoy.

autumn brings a sadness to my heart, most'f my losses in life 'f come durin' this time. but, i do my best to embrace it, find hidden beauty so the weight aint so heavy. i dislike the coolness in the air, departure 'f my feathered friends 'n all headin' into a deep winter slumber.

Definitely cool weather. i am looking forward so much to that, since the summer was extremetly hot. I do like the changing of the leaves, but I don't like to rake them as it is hard for me to do to much. I know with fall, then comes winter, which I am not looking forward to at all, as when we get really cold, I wish I could have some of the heat from the summer and put in the winter.

@simone10 Oh yeah! I haven't been real fond of summer since... well... since I stopped being in school. I had to go to summer school in college, something about totaling a car and having a very bad semester made me a bit behind in units to graduate.

The faint smell of bonfire smoke. The crispy crunch of twigs snapping under boots. Leaves turning a golden brown or deep red. The chill in the air and a cold frost in the morning. Fall is all of this and more, I love Fall because its so poetically mysterious. It was also the season I first "fall in love"... love fall.

I like the changing of the colours of the trees and shrubs.... and the slightly cooler weather, the possibility of snow... and frosty mornings...I love how the english countryside looks after a frost....
Probably not a popular one...because of course it means it's cold outside, but I like it...

All of the above except #2.This time of year is way too cold to enjoy sleeping outside. Used to be the Fair. I love to hear the Canadian Geese fly over head. Halloween is probably the most acute for me. That is usually when I turn the heat on.

Cold, no more swimming, and the fall feasts, which includes a lot of celebrating along with camping and campfires.

Definitely no more mosquito, however fall means to me beautiful leaves that change color, more cool weather so it isn't sweltering hot outside. It means Halloween, Trick o Treating, Pumpkins and Pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving and enjoying more time outside watching everything change for the season. Pumpkin pie is my absolute favorite of all time pies, it just seems the best within the fall season.

@nafretiti I never have acquired a taste for pumpkin. I do like pumpkin flavored things like my coffee creamer.
