The Day God Used My Son To Save My Life

It all started back in 2009. I had just been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and had lost my job because I had to use up all my FMLA. On top of that, I got a nasty virus and wasn't able to eat or drink for about 4 days.
One day I noticed that my heart was beating rapidly whenever I got up to do anything. I felt extremely weak. I had just started taking a new blood pressure pill so I thought that was what was going on. This went on for several days. Then one day I was on the phone with my brother and I was walking around while talking. All of a sudden my leg went out from under me. The next thing I knew, I was on the floor. I didn't tell my brother what had happened but was a little worried.
A few nights later, my son asked me to come over to eat with them as they were cooking hotdogs out on the grill. He knew how sick I had been and he said that after we ate, he was taking me to the ER. I told him I was fine and that I wasn't sure I would be able to make it to his home for dinner. He got a little upset with me telling me I needed to get out of the house, etc. So I finally gave in and went.
Several times while I was there, my legs tried to go out from under me. Fortunately both times I was near something that I could grab a hold of. My son didn't see any of this as I hid it from him. After eating my son asked me if I was ready to go to the ER and I told him I was. I was getting worried myself.
When we arrived, I didn't have to wait long before they took me in the back to take my vitals. My blood pressure was 70/40 and each time they took it, it went down more and more. They took me right back to a room and nurses and doctors were everywhere. After taking my blood, the doctor came back and said I was in acute kidney failure and that I might have to have dialysis.
I was shocked. Whenever I was lying down, I felt great. I didn't feel like I was seriously ill. I was in the hospital for over a week and found out that at the time I arrived, my kidneys were only functioning at 10 percent. I was told that if I hadn't come in, I would have died within a few days. The doctors said that because I had not drank anything in 4 days and I was still taking my blood pressure medicine, I had gotten extremely dehydrated. That was what caused the kidney failure.
Needless to say, I responded to therapy and was fortunate not to have any lasting affects from it all. My son told me after I was released from the hospital that God had told him that I needed to go to the hospital. He said it just wouldn't get off his mind. He was determined that he was going to get me there one way or another and because of this I am forever grateful. God worked through my son to save my life.

I had chills reading this as it reminded me of the last time I had pneumonia my son insisted I go to the ER he even had to carry me as my legs felt so weak. I was in Intensive care for 5 days and they still didn't know if I would make it, they told him they had one more procedure they could try, well as you can ser it worked out.

This is a great example of how we need to be listening for God prompting us to do things.

@GardenGerty It really does. I hate to think of what would have happened if my son hadn't listened.

@toothfairyblue That was back in 2009 so I was very lucky not to have any permanent damage from it.

@simone10 God was definitely looking out for you. Your son is lucky to have gotten the message and gotten you to the hospital. I have had quite a few times when I have been urged to do things I otherwise would not do. Lucky you and glad it all worked out and you were saved.
