How to spend free time?

When I'm busy, there are a lot of things that enter my mind as distractions and I feel like doing them.
When I'm free, I have nothing to do. It's as if the world has come to a standstill.
January to March 2015, in between the two semesters, I compelled myself to put the time to good use, so I took up on MOOC courses online. They are online free courses for a period of time by some renowned institutions. It wasn't a waste of time, and I learned a lot! This is one of the rare few instances when I actually did something instead of whiling my time away.
What do you do?

In my spare time I will knit or crochet, as I have been doing those for almost 50 years. I taught myself how to do both, and they are something that give me great pleasure. I like making things, and seeing how they are going to turn out. The finished project is usually given as a gfft as I crochet a lot of baby things.

@ria1606roy It really does. i seemto do it more in the winter though than any other time as in the summer it is just to hot to knit or crochet, as the yarn makes me itch. I have been working on some socks though, but not all that much, until it gets cooler.

@anushreem wow that's so beautiful there was a picture in my origami book once to make a box for sweets, and I had a hard time as a kid to make it. But it was the most fun thing I made that year.

@ria1606roy Hey glad to here that you loved it! I have recently learned to make 2D and 3D boxes and shapes. For eg. a colorful hexagon box for storing my accessories or to gift a friend any accessory in it. Also love making origami flowers!

@ria1606roy I have been scrapbooking about trips I have made such as to New York and to Disneyworld. One day I want to do a scrapbook for each of my kids with all of their pictures I've taken as they have grown up. I use sterling silver and beads to make my jewelry. Right now it's mainly charm bracelets but I do want to branch out and make other types of jewelry.

In between your studies, if you could afford to complete an on line course, there is nothing like it. It definitely gives you and added advantage and edge over others and it boosts your confidence level.

I had that feeling before where in I don't feel quite good knowing I somehow wasted my time. That's when I resigned from my previous job because of bad experience but didn't have a replacement job. I was totally depress at that moment and it was a boring and really a waste of time for me. I was glad it didn't take awhile until I found a new job. Its was all worth though than sticking on my old job in which I was not totally happy. I even have 3 jobs comfortable jobs now that somehow compensated it all.

@ria1606roy Correct. I know I was eager to find a job after I left my old company but then I was on the verge of unlucky moments at that time but nevertheless its worth it now. I am very happy with my full time job and 2 part time jobs.. hehe

Do something productive. If you have goal in life then there is no free time. Add money into that goal and you are never free :P
I think your approach of learning something new defeinitely helps. I have done that and it is helping me for sure. I learned a lot of good stuff along the line.

I think we should practice the word "focus". I have that kind of problem too, because of so many things coming inside my mind i forgot to do the other things.

yes you are correct. Focus is essential to concentrate on any work you want to do. And that can put in our mind a list of things needed to be done.
