A Room Without A View

A woman from Nottingham in the UK travelled to London to look at a room in a house share in Clapham, South London. The cost of the room? £500 per month plus a share of the bills. The room? Well not so much a room. More of a mattress on the floor in the cupboard under the stairs!! It only serves to show just how lucky I am. At least my parents didn't charge me rent when they forced me to live in the cupboard under the stairs until I was 16. It would have been nice if they'd allowed me to empty the bucket more than once a week though!!

I do hope that the mattress was lay flat on the floor and not pinned to the wall to save space.

I hope the landlord in question doesn't read your comment. He could probably fit three people in the cupboard if they sleep standing up!!

@WorDazza If he fitted hammocks then he could fit 3 people on different levels.

There was another one that was like £900, I can't believe the £500 one wasn't marketed as "The Harry Potter Experience", if it were I'm sure someone would've rented it

@WorDazza £500 a month is basically a bargain if it means you'll become a wizard

With that sort of marketing they could have probably got more than £500 per month!!

I just thought exactly the same, didn't read your comment until I'd already replied.

Oh my, I do not consider you so lucky... what about this woman, how many times a week is she allowed to empty the bucket?

@WorDazza So she cannot complain, all this for "only" £ 500, she is a lucky lady.

At least she would have use of proper bathroom facilities. Such luxuries! Well worth the £500. Not!!

And £74 per week lets you have a desk-bed. With wires sticking out of the ceiling, too. Not sure which one is better.
It certainly isn’t the stuff of dreams: this single box room in Lewisham, London, advertised on Spareroom.co.uk purports to be “perfect for young professionals,” but in reality it doesn’t look fit for a hamster.

They should have sold it as a Harry Potter experience! Good thing she went to look before signing anything!
