One of my favorite things to do for pure fun is to take a hike with a friend. Here in California, we have some pretty mountains and also the shoreline. When hiking with a friend, I tend to forget about my responsibilities at work, and I try to just take in the beauty of nature. One of my friends and I like to hike up near Pt. Reyes, on the Coast. I think it's in the Northern part of Marin County. It's a bit of a drive to get there, but it's worth it. I'll attach a photo of the Pacific Ocean from one of the hikes available up there. What do you do when you just want to "get away" for an afternoon?

What a gorgeous day in that photo! I do not hike, but, I take my dog for her walk every afternoon. To relax, I like to quietly sit and listen to jazz, I love the "Rippingtons".

I think a hike is just a glorified walk. We use it as an excuse to catch up.

The way I relax is by either knitting or crocheting. I enjoy working with my hands and creating projects that I can give as gifts. Most of what I have made, have gone to those families that were expecting a new baby. I enjoyed doing them, and I gained a blessing as well. Right now, I am knitting a pair of socks for myself, and I will be anxious to see how they will come out.

I like working with my hands as well. Here at the house, I'm often either doing small-scale woodworking projects or practicing guitar or mandolin.

@TheHorse Since i live alone, I don't get things done at the house unless my son comes and does them for me, and he is so busy all the time working, I just don't ask him. I do like having leisure time though to do those things that i like to do.. I do have a musical instrument, but I haven't been playing on it for a long time.

@rosekiss Well, I hope you ask him. I'd bet he'd be delighted to get some projects done for you. I make a lot of coasters out of recycled guitar sound holes. They mostly go to friends who play guitar.

That hobby of yours does sound like a nice stress breaker. Mine is nature as well but I am not an avid hiker. I just take it easy if I have somewhere to relax in nature. I also like to read in my spare time.

Colorado is beautiful. I haven't done much hiking there, though--just a couple with a friend when he lived in Colorado Springs. Reminded me of Montana, where we have a cabin. I like to hike up in Glacier Park, Montana.

That's beautiful. I like to walk. I mostly irritate my kids to play. LOL Vacuuming relaxes me though. I don't know why. Maybe it's the loud noise so I don't hear anyone else. I am left to my own thoughts.
