The Stolen pancake

Sometimes I just have to chuckle at my kids. They get upset by the funniest things. I was cooking pancakes for breakfast and my oldest son got a stack of pancakes off the griddle because he likes them hot, not room temp. He is very funny about the temperature of his food. I called all the other kids in to eat and as we were pouring the milk and getting things ready to sit down, he starts a commotion. I went over to solve (cuz that is what us mom's do!) the problem. He says somebody stole my pancakes. I asked why on earth anybody would do that when there was a stack on the table. He asked each of his siblings about his pancakes, this takes several minutes. Nobody stole his pancake, finally one of the older boys says, oh yes I got one from that plate, it was stacked so high that he thought it was THE pancake stack. Mystery solved. You would think that would be the end right? Oh no, we listened to how could anybody take his hot pancakes, his plate was in his spot and everybody knows that is his spot and bla bla bla for the rest of breakfast. The son that took the pancakes even offered them back, but nope that was not good enough. Kids! You gotta laugh at them or they will drive you crazy.

it would be hard to forget alright. and probably something that they'll tease him about when they're much older.

@hereandthere yes, he is not a morning person, when he was little and we would greet him with a smile and good morning, he would, in his grouchy voice say "don't say good morning to me" it is now a family joke.

Kids certainly drive you crazy...I can attest to this since I had four and yes, mine had food preferences too

I taught teenagers for over 40 years. Your philosophy is right on. I always said, If I wasn't crazy already, they would drive me nuts.

I can understand his problem, there, Kim! If he had them at his place at the table and the other plate of pancakes was also on the table, then your other son was remiss in taking one of them... LOL!
I am glad I only had one child at a time that would make a commotion over who had what or who did what, hon!
I can laugh at your kids (along with you) but if it was my kids, IDK...

We get "the why does he have more milk than me?" thing. I had to tell them if they said it again, I would pour out both so that they would be the same. I really would not, because I am a cheapskate and would hate the waste, but it did keep them quiet.
