29 but feel like 50 years old!

It seems like my asthma is playing up again recently and I think it is time to book an appointment with the docs about it. It seems I have endless health issues at the moment and I am only 29! I am using the brown and blue inhalers but neither seems to be making much of a difference. I hate feeling older than I am!

@gudheart Lol how are you feeling today? Does your asthma becoe worst in winter because of the colder weather?

Take care of your health. I don't have health issues but psychological one. I suffered from agoraphobia and social anxiety. My salary is low and I don't enjoy at my age which makes me feel older in front of others. though just turned into 30s club. I think some things can't be helped and we just have to carry on with it.

When you aren't breathing well and getting enough oxygen, you don't have much energy and that's bound to make you feel a little old and weary. See the doctor.

I am planning on seeing one soon. I want to try using the preventer inhaler a bit longer to see if that will work.

It is when all the health issues come at once.

It never used to be that bad and hardly ever needed to use my inhaler, strange how it has gotten worse all of a sudden.

Thank you. I am not sure why it has gotten worse. Maybe cold weather makes it worse.

Feel so sorry for you. At the moment, our air here is in the dangerous range. The forest fire from our neighboring country is affecting the air quality in many countries. I feel suffocated at times, and I am not even asthmatic. I cannot imagine living with asthma for life.

I am so sorry, it is normal to "feel old" when we are sick. I hope you can feel better and be again young as your age says.

You really do need to see a doctor if your inhalers aren't working anymore. He/she may have to prescribe something different for you. My brother has asthma so I can understand.

Does your practice not run an asthma clinic?

I was diagnosed with asthma when I was about your age. I think that I had actually had it ever since I was a child but, in those days, I think the word hadn't even been thought of. I always hated games, though, and, thinking back, it was mostly because I couldn't run well and got short of breath very quickly. A few years ago I was told that I DON'T have asthma but I do have COPD and my medications were changed. At some point I was told the difference between the two but now I can't remember. I only know that I use salbutamol as a reliever (which does help) and no longer use the brown one (which is a steroid) but was changed to a purple one and then taken off that and now only use a powder (tiotropium bromide) inhaler. I do always find that my wheeziness tends to get worse as autumn sets in, so I think that I'm allergic to fungal spores. I also find that I get short of breath when I get anxious or upset, though I only very rarely get to such a state that my breathing distresses me (that is, as in a full asthma attack). I have often found that a few minutes of controlled breathing will calm me and relieve the breathing and the panic that comes with not being able to breathe properly.
