Rain gave you a miss

It happens so many times here. I go to college in North Kolkata, and it's raining cats and dogs or an ongoing thunderstorm, flooding the streets and whatnot. I return home in South Kolkata only to find the streets have been untouched by rain, and no matter how long I waited, those tall thunderclouds never showed.
It's interesting that with a gap of a few kilometres or so, the clouds refuse to show up on this part. It was this like yesterday too. Nature works in strange ways.

You know what, I used to tell everybody that rain gods are considerate to people in Hyderabad. They do not empty the clouds when people are going to offices or schools, or returning from them. But for the rest of the time, it could be bad. Now, as I see it, rain gods are receding from hinterland, and any rain is welcome but they don't seem to come. :(

that's sad without the rain at this moment, the heat is scorching and unbearable. And the humidity is off the charts. Now it's a kind of routine happening every day: in the morning there's so much heat, at nearly 2pm thunderstorms are happening, then at 6 pm the temperature is going up.

Good that you are experiencing rains in Kolkata. Here in Mumbai we are facing scorching heat with no signs of rains

@anushreem - Mumabi has already got its share of rain. You cannot expect rain every month. It is even worse here in New Delhi. It has not rained in September and even in the beginning of October, the day temperature is around 36 degree C.

wow, that's bad. Without the rain, it's unbearably hot down here. That's what we are experiencing in the morning and the night, the afternoon only is a respite from this heat.

Kolkatta is one of the most populous city in the world. Its geography is also distinct. It is near Bay of Bengal and Ganges river also culminates here in Ganga Sagar. I think North Kolkatta is near to Bay of Bengal and Hoogly river, therefore, rains occurs there frequently.
You should go prepared for the unpredictable rain and should always carry your umbrella with you, when you go to college.
In New Delhi this phenomenon also takes place very often that if it is raining in East of Delhi, it may not rain in South or West Delhi. Only during the peak Monsoon season, it rains in entire the entire Delhi region.

@ria1606roy - Many a times it has happened that on our way to home, specially in the evening, we got caught in the sudden rain and got drenched to skin, before we could understand and protect ourselves under a shade. However, on reaching home (say some 10 Kms away), it was all dry and no sign of rain and people looking at us as if we have come from some other planet, all wet.

oh that's something I didn't know. Of course Delhi encompasses a huge area, so it is definitely possible. And what you said about Kolkata is true. It has became a game for some of us, you know. Suppose the rain is occurring in the North and we predict that it will reach the South in an hour or so. Or maybe the opposite sometimes. It's fun
You are right, weather in this country even is always unpredictable.

@dpk262006 haha exactly. Rain is so unpredictable and unfair. When I go out of home travelling to my destination, rain drenches me totally, and when I reach the place, rain stops. Totally feel like cursing the skies at that point of time!

so I've been hearing. There's no rain out there. Today it was just clouds thundering all the way but no rain near my house, but just 1 km away, the station is all but flooded.

kind of, yes. @simone10 when a storm hits, it's flooded everywhere and one can hardly get out of the house. But fast track 3 kilometers and people sweltering in the heat are wondering why the clouds are only thundering and doing absolutely nothing.
