How much are you worth?

I'm really not asking a personal question, I don't want to know your actual net worth. What I would like to know is this: Let's say you spend about 8, 9, 10 hours a day writing on a site that pays peanuts. I mean you not only write, but you spend hours and hours commenting on articles. You work your butt off. You are on the computer early in the morning into the wee hours of the night. Also let's say that you state you are on the site for the people, you like to hear about their daily activities, what goes on in their lives, etc. Meanwhile, if you are on the computer all those hours enjoying 'life' through others, you aren't enjoying your own life. To top it off you do all of that for about $5 a month. Tell me honestly is that all you're worth? These sites are not going to make anyone rich and to put that many hours into cyberspace seems very sad to me.

My days are far too busy to spend here. I do enjoy being here to start my day and again late afternoon. Sometimes I sneak on during the day while I enjoy a coffee. None of the other things in my life bring me money wither, so I guess if I choose to be here when I do it makes no difference financially.

I don't do this for the money I do it to keep my mind sharp! LOL...plus it's lousy weather so I can't be outside. But my point is working 8 or more hours a day for a month for $5 is not something I'd do.

@AbbyGreenhill I don't call being here working. This is my fun place to escape to from an otherwise busy schedule. Everyone's circumstances are different. I just love seeing those cents and dollars tick over, even if they mean very little. I'm a competitive person

It's true really. It isn't honestly worth it. However I come when I have nothing to do, or I have finished studying. I like coming on Mylot, it's not the money that attracts me, it's the compilation of interesting and truthful posts like this one

@AbbyGreenhill $50 here in the u.s. is quite a bit fer those countries where the average city worker brings in 'bout $250/month u.s. equivalent.

Yes I know what you mean, spending that long every day on the computer for that much money, seems like a hard life style.... but i'd come on here even if they didn't pay us, as its the people i've Made connections with, and I am very fortunate in that I do not need it as a source of income.... But I would not spend that many hours on the computer either....

Considering my last internet bill was 195 bucks, I would feel very guilty if I spend more time online than I already do.

@AbbyGreenhill gosh that's a lot of money... is that for a month unlimited use..?? or for 3 months...? I must admit I had not given much thought to the cost of internet in the various countries... but I do moan about how expensive I think it is Spain compared to England....
