Another Aura Migraine Attack

I am having right now another aura migraine attack, that's the third one since yesterday morning. I am so sick of them, they always last 20 minutes exactly. Have you ever had one of those attacks? I never get pain with them, just seeing zigzags patterns getting bigger and bigger. Still, the eye specialist tells me not to worry about them. Really?

It actually doesn't sound like an eye issue from your short description (really! ) But I'm no professional. I'm pretty familiar with eye issues, and it does sound like a blood-vessel behind the eye (retina to be specific) that becomes spastic! It's incredibly disorienting and unpleasant though as I'm sure you know! Seek some chemotherapy. No not the cancer treatment, it's a general term for using chemicals or pharmaceuticals in this case for treating a symptom or disease. Some can be quite helpful!

My eye doctor said not to worry about it as long as it doesn't get longer and longer for an episode.

I would see another ophthalmologist then, @marlina. You're probably just lucky that you get VERY LIGHT migraines, but you don't want to end up with a detached retina! If you ever lost vision in an eye, you have roughly an hour to get to the hospital and have them numb up your eye, before....well doing unpleasant sounding things to it (painless but scary) Then they place a little bubble of inert gas in your eye to hold the retina in place while it seals the heal! But if it happens, your eyesight is more important than worrying about what they're going to do! Get to a hospital immediately, do not pass "go", do not collect $200!

I have had them but not in a couple of years. They are very annoying.

Did they always last the same length of time?

@marlina They start as small zig zags, then they get bigger but less difficult to s ee though, eventually the circle of zigzag lines gets really large but also much less visible. And soon they fade. It may be about 20 minutes.

I have had those for years too and they are the worst. I do get pain with mine and confusion as well as slurred speech. I am worried one day it will end up being a stroke. It is such a scary thing to go through.

No pain? That's good, as I thought migraines were very painful. It seems very odd that they last exactly 20 minutes.
