Two days of diuretics is enough for me!

I had very swollen feet - well, my left one more so - since Monday evening. I broke down and went to see the doctor yesterday and he gave me a script for a diuretic. I am to take one a day for 3 days. I took the first one yesterday about noon time, with a full glass of water as recommended. I spent the better part of the following two hours in the bathroom.
By the time the two hours ended, my feet were back to normal! I did take one today and will again tomorrow just as directed. Today I spent maybe half the time in the bathroom as yesterday but still it's time consuming.
I'm not sure why people take diuretics and laxatives 'on purpose' in order to drop pounds...they must spend a fortune on toilet paper!

@AbbyGreenhill This is true. If not you will either go crazy or become bitter.

So the cure to swollen feet are diuretics? Oh boy... I hope all went well after what you went through. I don't think my mom should do that since she's thin. Anyway she has a different condition.

I guess it depends on the reason for the swelling. In my case the doctor was right on.

Two hours in the bathroom. What for? Leg swelling is a symptom and needs testing.

@allknowing First off, my legs are not/were not swollen - it was my feet. I went to the doctor and got meds for it. It doesn't need testing.

no its seems like a very inconvenient way to loose some pounds... but for medical purposes ... they do a good job...

haha :P well, extra pounds are alright unless you start feeling pain. You are right, diuretics and laxatives are the most self-abused meds in the world.

There might be a few things that are more abused - OxyContin for one.

He gave me a lecture on processed food/salt - I don't salt my food, but I do eat salty snacks and I had been eating a lot of salted Motza (or however you spell it!)

there might be something in your diet that caused your body to retain more water, and i know there are some foods and such that help you keep that down naturally without whole needing a library in the bathoom time constraints

They don't have anything better to do with their time? Never understood that myself. I really don't get the people who do a colon cleansing. I have colonoscopies every 5 years and that's enough.

I can't imagine going through all that going just to lose a pound or two.
