Do you know what this plant is?

My father put it in this small pot, and I wonder if it can survive the frost. As it is a tropic plant, I'm not sure. It probably can survive since it's indoors. Can you guess what this plant is?

Looks like ginger to me.. It needs quite a bit of sunshine.

Yeah, you are right, it's ginger. A piece of ginger with green roots. So my father put it into the soil. One of its leaves has become yellow, I don't know how to nurse it. Any ideas?

looks like ginger. you can try covering the plants with a sheet or something but it will depend on how cold it gets. I cover some when it freezes and sometime they survive and other times they don't. Safest bet is to keep it inside

Yeah, when it gets colder, I will try to cover it with a film of plastic.
