Scones and Honey, Lemon and Honey

I haven't been out of the house for a couple of days and we are pretty low on comestibles. In fact, snacks seem completely non-existent. So, this evening I made scones and we ate them with butter and honey. Honey is as healthy choice when you're sick, right? I am really congested and miserable, but luckily, The Girl is not the kind of person to be longsuffering, and so when she realized she had a cold, she went straight out and bought some cold medicine. I decided to have some before bedtime. Maybe it will help me breathe while I sleep. I would hate to stop breathing. It's a night time formula with honey and lemon and you make a tea with it using hot water. Again, the cold medicine is honey-flavored, so I know the scones were a healthy choice. This is Alka-Seltzer cold medicine. It comes in packets instead of tablets. Somehow, I feel like it might not work because it's not fizzing. Plop, plop, fizz, fizz. That is the sound of Alka Seltzer. It's really really sweet, which I can taste even though I haven't really been able to taste much else today. I am going to toss this down and get to bed. And btw, for all my bubbler friends here, @angelaterese13 joined today. I hope she decides to join us and have some fun here.

@allknowing A cold is three days coming, three days staying and three days leaving. But you can make those middle three days more bearable with symptom relief.

I know your pain. My sinuses hurt, my cheekbones hurt, my everything hurts. I hope you start to feel better, too. Maybe a change in the air will help.

It wasn't a miracle, but I did get some sleep.

I sometimes break down and take the nighttime nasal stuff, just to sleep with a cold, since that part of the day is often the more miserable one

You have to sleep, and breathing while asleep is essential.

That made me giggle, @Rollo1. Also the whole household often appreciates the adults not being grumpy from poor sleep, or snoring so loudly everyone is kept up.

I saw the notification earlier and jumped on and followed you, but I am very sick today and that was all that I had strength for. I threw myself back on the couch for a few hours.

Have honey lemon juice, and or whiskey, and chicken noodle soup. I'm not sure if any of this really works but people always suggest it for a cold. I'm not sure if they say feed a cold and starve a fever or is it the other way round, Anyway try that too.

I think the whiskey medicates you by putting you to sleep so you can feel better when you wake up again.

This wasn't too bad, but I don't think it was as effective as the tablets that fizz.

We have the same cold medicine in Italy (Tachifludec), it's not by Alka Seltzer but according your description they are identical, lemon or orange flavored.

I bet it has the same formula, and who knows? The two companies may belong to one larger, parent company. It works, though. It's great stuff.

I hope it worked for you and you feel better today... I think some of these cold remedies are very good, I usually go for unflavoured or lemon ones ... as I do not really like honey...

I don't like cold medicine but i wish you health. I have aalways thought that warm or hor medicines are more useful. but it depends on your desease

Warm or cold is a comfort thing, but cold medicines can help with the symptoms.

I should have expected it. School just started. The Boy goes to school, is surrounded by new germs he hasn't met before, picks one up and brings it home.

Sorry you're feeling under the weather, honey! (silly joke) A heavy cold is miserable - Hope the combination of honey and Alka Seltzer does the trick! Glad to see the bubblers' names on here - I'll try to get the hang of this soon so I can interact with everybody again!
