Whatever happened to common sense?

People used to be able to make choices based on their own conscious and whether or not a course of action seemed reasonable at the moment. Now though we look to others, often the government to tell us what to do. Too often, an accident that is caused by a person's lack of judgement results in a lawsuit to a manufacturer of a piece of equipment because they didn't provide a warning that this could happen. Personally I think people should be responsible for their own actions and not always looking for someone else to blame. If you use something in a manner that it was not designed to be used for then the fault is yours, not the object or the manufacturer. This has long been a sore spot for me but it was highlighted recently when I was going through the grand kid's clothes to see what still fit them. As I was reading the labels I came across one that was so ludicrous I had to laugh. I didn't take a photo of it but a friend of mine on Facebook ran across the same thing so I am borrowing hers. After you see the label you will understand why I'm scratching my head over this one.

It would save having to take your child to a fairground.
A great deal of the problem has been generated by governments, who have increasingly given advice to the public and treated them as morons, thus causing many people to start to rely on such input.
The tendency for solicitors to pursue ridiculous claims on someone's behalf simply to take their cut has not helped either. The resulting attitude of seeing £ signs at any opportunity by suing has led to companies taking extreme measures to protect their selves from prosecution.

Well said! I believe that is truly the root of the problem. It has been proven that if you tell a child they are stupid all the time they will prove you right. It's a shame really. We need to stand on our own two feet, take responsibility for our own actions and let the government stay out of our personal choices. As it is we have very little freedom left.

well, butter my butt'n call me a biscuit! apologies... if'n it t'weren't fer frivolous lawsuits, how'd all them there lawyers survive without their 40%?
this labels hysterical - 'less'un yer really stoned/drunk/'r otherwise 'indisposed', wouldn't that young'un be outta this garment if'n ya turned such inside out 'fore washin'?
common sense seems to've been tossed out with 1 cent bubble gum, don't it?

@crazyhorseladycx I made the same comment about taking the child out before reversing the item of apparel, too, Dearheart! (Great minds really do think alike, don't they!)

I actually have a piece of clothes that has that tag in it. I wish that I had taken a picture but I didn't think about needing it for a discussion at the time. When I saw that post on Facebook I remembered it. I will find the shirt again and take a pic.
But I can identify with your sentiment.

OH, how funny! Not your observations about people, but the warning label! Your observations are totally correct for a LOT of people!
I cannot believe anyone would need that warning! After all, when you turn the item of apparel inside out, you remove the child before doing that! (Teasing at you!)

People have to be told how to take care of their children now.
What has come over the world?

@savak03 that's true. The attention has shifted from the household work, and both mother and father are facing problems maintaining it.

its seems to be reaaly funny but its a reality that If you use something in a manner that it was not designed to be used for then the fault is yours, not the object or the manufacturer.it implies that when there is your own fault you can't blame the company or manufacturer for your own fault.

When I see this I am always reminded of the high chair in a restaurant that cautions not to use this seat upside down. (I believe it was the practice of some people to turn it upside down to put a baby carrier on it.) We were puzzled by that.

Haha very funny. Yes I know what you mean friend. It is like dumb sheep that have to be told what to do lolz Sadly though, it is like people who leave their children in 105 degree Farenhiet vehicles..do they need to be told not to do this?
