Hurricanes, Wind and Floods

For 9 days it has been completely overcast here with rain, wind and cold. On Tuesday we had so much rain my pool was running over! Our back yard was flooded and the local University was flooded. Downtown streets were impassable. This has never happened here. As I write this it is once again pouring down rain. Yesterday I had finally gotten the pool water level back down to normal. You guessed it, it is running over again! There is water in the basement again because I hear the sump pump running and I should go check on that soon. All of this rain they say isn't even from the hurricane that is making its way up the east coast. I am sure the wind is from that though. Honestly it is hard to take this much dismal weather. I hope this isn't a sign that there will be a lot of snow this winter.

@Jabo, I am on the east coast in Virginia and you are absolutely right. We either get too much weather or nothing.

@rebelann, yes we could help out CA and you right now. Day 10 got up to more rain. It is afternoon and it has finally stopped! Still very cloudy but at least no rain at the moment. Wish we could send out there somehow.

What about the basement friend? Will the sump pump get the water out?
Oh dear that is intolerable.
I hope that you can stay safe and be spared from any terrible flood.

You are so kind, yes the sump pump will get the water out. If the water gets too high I will have to put another pump down there. I don't think that will happen Thank you for your kind words. We will stay safe.

It is a really scary situation with that much rain is so short a time - I know of an online friend whose house has 18" of water in in now - they're in SC. Hope your pump keeps doing its job!

I feel so bad for all of the people in South Carolina, so much damage and so much water! We were on some of those streets a couple of weeks ago, seems so unreal t look at all that flood water.
