I think the fear of not enough money is the greatest fear.

Actually all of us have many fears in our lives. Some of us fear cats, some fear height, some fear public speaking and so on.
But I think the greatest fear is the fear of not enough money. It is a fear that nobody wants to discuss with their friends or colleagues, and so they have to worry in silence.

I already don't have much money so not something I fear - potential homelessness is a real fear at present for me though

Homelessness is linked to the lack of money.
Those who have fully paid for their house fear the IRS because they may lose their house if they do not have the money to pay property tax.
Those who have not paid their house in full or have rented their house have more to fear.

For me the greatest fear is losing my loved ones. I just can't afford to imagine a life without my friends and family. Although fear of not having enough money bothers me sometimes.

It is a certainty that we will lose our loved ones.
Everyone will lose our parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts sooner or later. It is a matter of time.
I think the sooner we accept this certainty, the better. We will treat our elders well knowing that they will not always be there.

@shivuspeaks Actually that is the reason for using money to buy experience.
When you travel together as a family, and when you do things as a family, you are creating memories that will stay with you forever and ever.
When the loved ones are gone, we have to rely on our memories to supply us with joy and companionship.

@scheng1 yeah you are right. But its probably a bit difficult to make your heart understand the fact that you will ultimately lose your loved ones, maybe because emotions overpower logic when it comes to heart.

I do agree with you, as I am struggling to make ends meet, but i don't want my family to know, as I don't feel iti is any of their business. I won't go to them for help, as they have money problems themselves. I perfer to try to do it on my own without any help, and I know I can, as long as God with me.

There is a saying in the Bible about love overcomes fear.
I think there is some truth in it when we apply it to money.
When we are in a charitable spirit, and think about helping others, we will not let the fear of not enough money overwhelms us.

I have a fear of height too, but I think the fear of not enough money is worse than that.
If we avoid situation where we have to climb high or look down from high, we practically can live a happy life.
The problem is that we cannot live a single day without money.

For me, the greatest fear is the fear of loneliness. No one to speak or to share the happiness and bitterness of life, I am really scared of that.

I am not scared of that. I think when we are old, and even if we stay alone, we can use computer to join many forums. As long as we can still see and type, online friendship is as good as offline friendship.
Anyway many old people get together to practice Taiji in the park. Sooner or later we will be part of a large Taiji group.

@scheng1 That sounds not a bad idea, but I still don't want to face the cold machine all day long.

@Carol2015 Over here, I see a lot of very active old people who are in their 70s to 90s. They are still having great fun, and some of them are so active that they can travel out of country in a group.
Another great place for old people is the library.
Many old people go library every morning to read newspapers.

@scheng1,For me,the greatest fear is when your self respect and prestige is at stake.I can stand lack of money.I can live in abject poverty, but I can't bear insult and humiliation.I have lived a hand to mouth life for years, but never let my self respect get hurt.I would rather die,but .....

Sooner or later, you will learn that those who insult and humiliate others are cowards.
I do not let them bother me.
if they spend all their time to think about words to hurt others, they are not good people, and not worth my time to pay attention to them.
Just treat them as dirt.
