My Worst Job Ever Was..

Iv worked in a few places in my lifetime and many of them sucked but nothing was worst than working for Dunkin Doughnuts. I would have to be there before 5 a.m. to open up shop and at that time the buses didnt run so I would have to pay a cab everyday and I would end up taking a bus back. I would dread those long winters were it would be freezing cold at 430 a.m.
Aside from the commute, The pay was horrible at a measly 8 dollars an hour and I would have to serve coffee to the rudest New Yorkers ever. Im glad I left that place without ever loosing my cool lol

I only had one job where it was not the job that was the problem but rather the horrible employees. I have seen however how people treat servers in shops restaurants and coffee shops and I think it is so rude and bad mannered. I don't know how you never poured a coffee over someones head or rammed a donut up their left nostril!

I would suspect that the person at the counter that is getting away from his life whatever it might be wants desperately to grab a coffee wouldn't be the same person that is leaving the place after the java fix. Your job sounded interesting Gary.

Good for you not losing your cool over these rude people. I've had lots of jobs that I have quite enjoyed. One memory I have is when I worked during my holidays at a factory that made cardboard boxes. One day I broke the machine and it couldn't make any more boxes. Thankfully I was only there for a short time, hehe

I have just remembered a job I had in the city. It was a new restaurant attached to a movie theatre and I was a waitress. I did not like that one bit. The owners were always watching and making negative comments, awful it was

This is the kind of jobs I do not like, and I respect those retail staff who can manage the whole outlet on their own.
I hope that their bosses treat them well, and they are getting bonus and other benefits.
I hope you have learnt some useful skills there, and maybe one day you will open a shop and never work for others again.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Good to hear that. I hope that you treat your employees well.
I think many great bosses are great because they have worked in very low paid jobs too, and they understand the pain of their workers.

If you love what you do then you really don't have to work a day of your life. I have enjoyed what I do for over 20 years and it never felt like work at all

I've never worked at a fast food place before. I've always worked in the hospital my whole life just kept switching different areas to work in. So far I been there for 10 years and wouldn't trade it for anything. Glad you left before you lost your cool also, I know how rude customers can be.

My worst job was when we were force to do work that is beyond our limits and end up working overtime without any appreciation. Not to mention, people are just so damn mean and most of them would just step each other's shoes.

Wow! I have new respect for people like you. The waking up early in the morning I can handle but not freezing winters and rude customers. Kudos to you!

My worst job ever was on a conveyor belt chopping the roots off celery in a processing plant, working for a gangmaster who picked us up in a van at 5 am. Thankfully that was only for a few days almost 30 years ago but I have never forgotten it, I feel so bad for anyone who has to work at something like that all their life.

My son works there now. He's been there a few weeks. He does the night shift mostly though, and he works in a small town so the people aren't too bad.
His biggest gripe is that he doesn't get along with all of his coworkers, but I've been telling him he'll have that problem no matter where he works. I have 2 coworkers I seriously dislike, and my husband hates his boss with a passion.

Sounds like me at Starbucks, but thankfully I had my own transportation at that time. Still wasn't always fun making coffee for rude customers for $7.00 an hour for me at the time and we all had to split the tips. Not fun.

Eight dollars an hour is actually minimum pay here I believe, well seven really. Maybe not for your area though, my worst job was McDonald's. Its harder than people think, you have to do a lot of physical work. Carry over 50 pound boxes, scrape, clean, wipe assemble stuff correctly ugh.

Any job that didn't suit my tastes was a bad job towards the end, even if I enjoyed it towards the start. I fall into a role, and keep the feelings positive, but when I near the end I let hidden feelings creep in and take it out. I'd have to say being a contractor of an army base was pretty horrible. Outdated technology, outdated thinking, daily office politics that would eat you alive, dealing with the book of federal codes and regulations that should be incinerated because the whole thing needs to be rewritten from scratch, and so on. At least I managed to help the other employees during my time there, to make them more productive.
Upper management was starting to like me, that's why my own management got rid of me early.
