Is The 'Hooray' Over?

United States
October 4, 2015 9:15am CST
Is it just me or does it seem the activity here has died down? When I became active back in August, it seems like there was so much more activity. In the last couple weeks it doesn't seem like there is much activity at all. Perhaps it could be when I first became active, I was a bit overwhelmed with the whole thing. Learning how to navigate, how to find the actually discussions I wanted and not just the response, etc. Does it seem like the 'Hooray' of mylot paying has come to an end?

I must admit to being a little disappointed at the content of some of the posts on here - they aren't worth reading, much less commenting on. Bubblews wins on that score. However i'm still finding lots that I do like, so am still enjoying it.

Yes, the actually writing of something with substance Bubblews does have that. Where mylot is set to be a discussion site focusing more on the interaction. The two do vary quite a lot. Both has it's pros and cons to them. It's trying to find the middle ground.

@jaboUK I'm with you there. I tend to get bored real quick with them myself. Along with the 'Good morning', 'goodnight', 'What I had for dinner' and the 'weather'.

@TexanTornado I've seen too many one line posts, I definitely don't like them. And others that are just 'going to the shops now' type of thing - not for me.

I don't think that the global activity has decreased. I would say like Lamb that more people are starting discussions, but that discussions are getting less responders. Maybe is it because many new members are coming from Bubblews and are not yet accustomed with the way myLot works. It is sad that some old members have chosen to not stay here after an appearance, and I wish that they will change their mind in the future.

@PhredWreck Perga, Dainy1313, Jaiho, Captain Albert Whisker... Many don't like the "new" interface, and I will not throw them a stone for that.

@topffer seriously, maybe I should not say this but guess I will.. I think there were some problems over there in the b land. Why once I even was told off about not dotting my i's in posts.

Yes, I have noticed that with the Bubblews users. I can't fault them, once you used to working a certain way, you tend to think all programs work the same. Hopefully soon they will figure things out. I don't know the old users, but I have seen many of discussions by the 'veterans' in which stated some of their names and hopes they will return.

I think that the hooray is still here. I see more people flocking back to the site. I did not learn about the site paying again until late September so probably more people will be flooding the site soon.

Yes, the site does have new people joining, which is great. I still think it needs a lot more people.

I would say for the individual there may well be a settling in period. People even in a group conversation tend to vary in intensity in a room I've noticed?

Oh yes, there was definitely a settling in period, no doubt about that. Many people have said that. Sorry, but I am unsure of what you mean about the group conversations.

@TexanTornado Sorry about that. In a room, people gather like for example at a birthday party. When they first enter everyone is talking at once and it is loud then all of sudden everyone gets quiet till the next wave. Just an observation.

@TexanTornado Its okay it might also be my writing. Oh look outside giant rocks are falling out of the sky today. It is simply fine to ask questions as it makes things clearer. I suggest not speaking to @PhredWreck as he is in training.

I'm still fairly new her, but from what I've seen there's plenty to keep me here for a few hours at a time. It's not always a good thing when I have other things to do offline.

Yes, when I first joined I would sign on and still be here 3 hours later trying to get all the replying done and then try to interact. Once you start getting the hang of it all, it will get easier. And then maybe you will be able to get some things done that need to be done offline.

@fawkes62 Oh I completely understand that. I tend to multitask a lot. And other times, I just need a break all together from the computer.

@TexanTornado I might not spend as much time here if it was the only site I was on at the time, but I tend to work in a couple of windows at a time. It's the only way I for sure get to everything I want to do online, but it does tend to take longer.

I've only been here six days. So I can't really say. But it seems pretty active to me. But I stumbled over here from a dying writing site.

Oh yes, I remember when I 1st joined it was quite overwhelming. I think once you learn the navigation system, it becomes easier and you can get through the notifications/discussions a lot quicker.

@TheHorse Yes, the best thing is to try and find a routine in which works for you. It always seems to be a matter of time.

@TexanTornado I've developed a sort of routine at this point. I start with notifications (the emails) and then move on to some random movement around the site. I leave as many comments as time permits.

I think we all need a break from the computer from time to time. And even to give our brain a rest. (Well, those of us with a brain left).

Well, that is great that you found the middle ground. I think that might be the best place to be, cause you not overwhelmed but you aren't bored either..

Personally I was hoping for more interaction. I like the fact that the site is fast, but find that the interaction is not that good.

I find mylot has more interaction then Bubblews did by a long shot. But yes, the interaction is only done by a small quantity of people. You will basically see the same people over and over in discussions. The new comers have to get used to how things actually work here, once they do it might get better. I also think they need more new people. Hopefully a little time is all it will take.

@TexanTornado I agree its much better here than it ever was in B after it restarted. Yes, it does take time.. people will fall into the track sooner than later.

I do not have the feeling that global activity has decreased after the hooray start. It is true that I joined at mid September, but since them it seems pretty the same.

I don't find there is nearly as much activity. Yes, perhaps 1 person posting 10 discussions now (1-2 worth responding to), however it's still they same 5-10 people actively interacting. As I said, it's perhaps just me.

@TexanTornado I do not mind posting ten discussions, but I like to interact with the others and I am busy all the afternoon doing this.

i dunno, i've been here a lil o'er a month now 'n aint seen any decline in activity myself. i agree with @PhredWreck (sshhhh! don't tell 'im coz it'll go to 'is head ) 'n some others that the more folks there is to open discussions, the more folks'll spread out to find schtuff that interests 'em to read 'n thus make responses to.

Yeah, I had to step back and observe it more closely and I agree with both you and him (without him knowing it). I will admit I did become a bit more picky and then my leave of absence.

I have not been here that long, and I am only able to get onto myLot now and then, but I think there is always the excitement of something new, so people are active, and then once things have settled, people seem to get a little quieter. I think.

Yes, I do have to agree with you. Once the excitement wears off, things tend to fade until the next big exciting thing comes around.

Nah, I think it was just all the new people coming in being all excited. It's still the same here to me. Maybe because I'm not that active that I miss all the activity but I still like it here a lot.

Yes, it seems like their was a big bang, and then it slowly fizzled but I think it could be because everyone has slowly settled in, and it's more even kilter now. Oh yes, I still like mylot and enjoy the interacting among the people.

I think that is what is becoming my problem. *shrugs* It's either only one person posting all the discussions or the same post 20 times over from different people.

I don't feel anything like that..my discussions are always high numbers and more new ones all the time.. What saddens me is all the ones who were invited back from years ago, came back to interact and then left again...so i'm feeling like i'm introducing myself to newbies or ones from Bubble place that i never knew since i wasn't there..

I guess it's just me then. I know when I first became active I was overwhelmed with the notifications, and battling to try and keep up. I don't find that to be the case anymore. It could perhaps just be the fact that I have gotten a bit more picky as to what discussions I personally wish to interact on. So many now simply just don't interest me, or I tend to ignore due to other reasons.
