The Good, The Bad and The Snugly

The Good - Hurricane Joaquin has tracked even further East, and it looks quite good in terms of not being too terribly affected by it. No power outages means more time online for me. The Bad - It's this cold. It's definitely better than yesterday, but I still have the strength and resilience of a wet dishcloth. Oh, and I can't taste anything. Not ANYTHING. I made a delicious chicken soup for lunch and I couldn't taste it. I know it was delicious because The Boy loved it and he doesn't like soup. I have these orange-flavored zinc lozenges that are supposed to make me better. I think they would work better if I could taste the orange in them. Everyone knows that orange juice is full of sunshine and Vitamin C and is so good for you. Even if I could taste just a little bit of the orange, I know that the psychological effect would be of great benefit. The Snuggly - I have been a bit concerned about Fuzzbutt the guinea pig. He's taken to snubbing my offers of carrots. So we spent time checking him over, removing some matted fur and trimming him up, and making sure he was well. He snuggled and purred and ate a carrot as long as I held it for him. Now I think he was just being lazy and craving attention. What was your good and bad this weekend? Did you have a snuggly?

Hope you feel better soon. Fuzzbutt does look really cute and I guess he is lazy and seeking attention. Ignore him and he will come around.

They get more comfortable with more attention and for some reason, only take a few days of not being held to get skittish again.

I love the thought of a guinea pig purring. Guess I haven't been around one enough. Maybe you should have another and call it "Snugglebutt"... : )

Our little girl draws attention too. She will lick away until we get to her and start petting her. Preiti is disciplined but yet at times feels lonely and craves for attention which she gets. The good is that my garden is giving out new flowers and the bad is due to heavy showers some of my seedlings have perished.

Oh, sorry about the seedlings. But new flowers is always a cheery thing to see.

The soup sounds like it was good. To bad you could not taste it.

I've read all the comments, so I see it's obviously just me, but your photo looks like you are putting a carrot up the guinea pig's butt. Hope you get rid of your cold soon.

I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out. I've had guinea pigs before so I know what their faces look like, but it does kind of look like a butt too.

If the piggy's butt had eyes, I would be quite concerned.

@Rollo1 To me the white bit looks like an upturned tail. I didn't actually see the eye, till just now!

I didn't know guinea pigs could purr! Sorry about your loss of taste, it puts you off eating. I hope it returns, and soon! Not sure the hurricane news is good, it might be heading towards us : (

Only this one purrs. The other one makes these little chirps when he's being held. I don't know how far the storm will travel north before taking its big easterly turn. But you could end up with some rain and wind, who knows? Hope it dissipates over the cold North Atlantic.

My snuggly over the weekend was watching the movie 'The Railwayman' then buying the book on Kindle and curling up with it on a big chair in the sunshine..

I downloaded Helen Keller's Story of My Life. She was an excellent writer.

Poor Fuzzbutt, I am sure he wanted a bit of your attention. I am sorry you still do not feel well, I hate when I cannot feel the taste of food. About vitamin C, papaya contains 3 times more than oranges.

@Rollo1 Oranges come third in Vitamin C content, it's a good score, I do not remember the second, but I believe bell peppers.

I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling well. I hate having a cold. The good for me this week was getting paid from myLot. I don't recall having a bad. As for the snuggly, that would have to be my 2 dachshunds.

@Rollo1 I agree. It was so nice for me because it was unexpected. I was expecting payment a few weeks later.

I am actually craving to taste food. It's pretty boring stuff if you can't taste it.

He's been very messy and getting hay tangled up in his long fur. If he would hold still long enough, I would shave it all off.

@Rollo1 Granted, I am speaking of a dog, but I have to take mine to the vets groomer for a bathe and shave, I cant keep my pom still for that, and his outer coat wiks away water, so it's impossible to get him clean, or if you really get him wet, to get him dry again

We spent the day Saturday at a state park looking at all the fall colors, that was the good. The bad was probably the 2 hour drive each way, though even that wasn't too bad. Surprisingly the kids didn't fight at all either way. The snuggly would be my cats when we got home. Their supper was late, so they were very attentive to us until they got their food.

If you spend the whole day, two hours is not so bad a drive, but it can be if kids don't get along during the trip.

@Rollo1 Most of the time they argue while we are driving and it makes a 1 hour drive seem long, but this time they didn't argue at all so the drive wasn't too bad.

This one definitely does. They have different sounds for different emotions. The other one doesn't purr, but makes chirps when he's happy.

No snuggly in this house but the next weekend will be full of snuggly when the kids and their dogs get together here for Thanksgiving.

The good - Had guests over and enjoyed their company. The bad - Haze, haze, and more haze. Not too sure about snuggly. I did snuggle with the 6-year old and the 2-year old though. I guess that counts. Sorry to hear about your cold. Get well soon!
