There is a very large art show held every year in a city 2 hours from where I live. It's called the St. James art show and the artists hail from different states and even different countries. The art displayed is not what you'd find in a typical craft show! These are very talented artists and the pieces displayed are wide and varied - blown glass, bonsai-like trees sculpted from wire, furniture formed from stumps, wrought iron creations, jewelry made from silver, leather goods, sculptures formed from metal, paintings, etc. All of these artists were set up in a historic section of the city which boasts fantastic architecture. It'd be a place to explore even if there wasn't a fair going on! I would still be there, except for the fact that I was only there to retrieve my son for a couple of days home while on fall break from school. And my husband was ready to come back home - football games were coming on and those could not be missed! Maybe I should have just stayed - I'm not sure he would have noticed that I wasn't at home...as long as the games were on. Except maybe when it came time for supper!

It sounds fascination, but what if you were tempted to buy a wired bonsai? I suppose it could double as a TV antenna in case the cable went out when the game was on.

That would be a good use for a wired bonsai.

I really wish now that I had taken a photo of one of them - they were so intricate! An antenna would be useful, though, as I'd really like to get rid of cable... : )

@angelaterese13 If you can get internet without TV and phone, then it's easy to cut the cable cord. Get a Roku, order up Hulu and Netflix, you can even get HBO, Showtime, Starz, a la carte on streaming. And if you get something like Sling TV or playon, you get everything for cheap. Streaming, it's where TV is going. The cable companies are desperate.

Ha, ha, these are the very reasons I have a 'run away from home' at least once a year, down to our capital city, or across to Melbourne. It means I can spend as long as I want doing the things I want.

We have an art show like that in my country.. people from all over the country come and exhibit their art/craft. You get painting really cheap.. this is where I buy all my art from. I love hanging around there for the whole day.

I'm sure it's a great event. I'm not much of an arts person but I do love going to events like that. Plus, here they usually offer great deals in such exhibits.

Some of the art wouldn't have a proper display place in my house, and I'm sure the prices are worth the work the artists put into their pieces, but they were above my budget for sure!

Hi! Is that really you? So glad to see you. It sounds like a lovely time. I love that stuff, too, but definitely understand the football problem.

That sounds quite an interesting exhibition and one that I would have liked to see. It certainly makes a change from the junk that is passed off as Modern Art these days.

You are right. One need not to go to a place when there is an art show but look around those places which themselves are works so art.

I understand your hubby's fascination for football. My dearly beloved stays in front of the tv to watch all those ballgames, plus wrestling. At times, he even forgets lunch or dinner. Are husbands really like that? He! He! He!
