Save leftovers for a rainy day. The second life of broths.

Today was cleaning up day at the kitchen after yesterday´s luncheon. Besides the rest of the meat (there´s just a tiny bit left for tonight), there was a lot of leftover broth. Humberto cooked the meat in white wine with onions, carrots, sweet peppers and (OMG!!!) hot pepper. The meat for awesome, but the broth left is just too hot. I pondered whether I should throw it away but finally decided upon freezing it in cubes. So I will use them in small quantities when I cook beans, garbanzos or lentils. I guess that they would help a stew or even a vegetable soup. I hardly ever throw away any food and I turn it into something else that many a day is better than the first dish. Do you like cooking? Do you use the leftovers?

I live with my brother and he is the cook and I am the baker. I never really have liked cooking but did cook when my kids were home.

I´m exactly the opposite. I don´t care much for baking as it requires exact recipes.

@marguicha You are a lot like my brother. He doesn't measure of anything and doesn't always go by a recipe. With me, I have to have a recipe to follow.

That is a good idea. i am sure you will find it handy when you want a quick meal. I think the soup is good enough for instant ramen. just add in the ramen, and some vegetables, and that will be a great and simple lunch.

This spicy addition will do wonders for a soup of any kind, as you say

Life is hard so there is no sense in wasting. I also do not throw leftovers. There are various ways to reuse them. Yes, I do love cooking.

I guess I would spend twice as much money in food if I did not give a seind life to leftovers.
