Do you ever check old discussions?

There are times that Mylot seems a little quiet, so it does not take long to run out of notifications and read through the latest posts. This happens at times and we find our selves scouring for posts to comment on.
Personally I tend to visit profiles and scan back over very old posts. Naturally there are a vast number of these that are simply outdated now, but there are also quite a few that would still be relevant.
There are many new members here, but also many who have been here for years and therefore a vast amount of old posts to check through. It can be laborious at times, but can also bring up some interesting material.
Have you ever tried this, or do you have a large list of friends and never run out of posts?

I do run out of things to respond to, but I have never thought of going back to my old discussions. i have deleted a lot of them already, ones that aren't relevant to my situation anymore. I am getting responses though to one that isn't new, as it was written before mylot changed. i went and edited it, and changed a few things, and then it started getting responses. I am so thankful for all the responses I have received to all my discussions that are still here, as it gives me a chance to keep commenting, and more more money. For that I am thankful.

Editing your own older posts is an option that had not crossed my mind, but it is a very intriguing one. Replying to older comments on your posts is also a novel idea.
However, I was referring to looking back through other members' posts in order to find something to comment on.

I do that sometimes as well, especially if I like what the person has written. Some of the "time sensitive" ones might not be relevant, but sometimes they can be funny to read and respond on, especially if they are ones like "how do you think this will impact us in the next couple of years", because now we can sound smart by stating what we think due to the "inside information" that it has already been that amount of time so we know how it affected us.

@purplealabaster I have found some very worthwhile posts that way recently.

@Asylum That is true as well. I come here to have fun, so the amount of drivel that was passing for discussions did not bother me at first. Now, however, there are times when I really would like to find something with substance to discuss, and fortunately the older discussions tend to be more like that than the newer ones.

I to run out of posts sometimes and have been known to check back through other peoples profiles. Though I am in the process of going through my following list and checking each ones profile. I have some from way back when who no longer even come here so I want to make my list current and those that are here I go through their posts. Though I have a hard time running out of things to do because I am behind on posts and comments!

@crazzydolphin Interacting with the recently submitted posts is always preferable, although I sometimes find that the available material is limited.

@Asylum I really wish that I would have thought about it when I came back honestly but in the end it gives me time to check out others posts that are active so I can interact more so it all works out in the end.

I've checked a few out on that 'You might also like' list on the right, but have been disappointed when they take me back several years. I'm not going to respond on something that old, especially if the posters are long gone, as they mostly seem to be.

I have checked out peoples earlier discussions to see what types of things they are interested in. I don't know if I have revived a discussion since being back here, but I used to do it a lot before.

@beaniefanatic13 This is very likely because Mylot is noy just attracting new members, it is drawing back ,many of the old members as well.

I have looked for old members for sign of their return, but I think anything that wasn't based on the events of that time period has to be a discussion about something that has been discussed a thousand times in the last 8 years or so.

I do this occasionally but I would rather move forward than back. I try to find new subjects to start discussions about. I don't look to the past. I do go over some other member's discussions from the last day or so but not more than that usually.

I do it,when I find an interesting person to follow, but not as a regular basis, I do it, specially to learn from people who has been in this longer than I do. And you're true, sometimes really interesting conversations can be found

I am not sure, but I think most of the old discussion are useless because the users are not using Mylot anymore and most of my discussion were time sensitive. I am going to reply to few of my old discussion if it gives a boost to old discussion then I would try to reply each and every discussion.

It would not be a problem if the original poster was no longer here because it could still bring the post to the attention of others and draw further comments.
I do agree that there are a large percentage of time relevant posts, but6 there are still plenty that will never be out of date.

I do that every once in awhile. I like to look at the old posts of people that commend on mine.

@Asylum,Whenever I have time,I check old discussions by users who are my friends here. However I rarely get time.I have too busy a schedule and I can't interact here for more than an hour or,at best, two.I agree with you that sometimes Mylot is irritatingly quiet. It generally happens on Sundays.I have observed it.
