The professional advise is not to switch job if the pay increment is just 10%.
In most cases, the annual increment is about 5% of salary, so if a person switches job for the sake of getting extra 5% salary increases, he is taking a huge risk.
I think in some instances where the boss is terrible or the distance is too far, it is better to switch job.

Greetings, scheng1.
Yes, you pointed it out. The salary is not the main thing about moving away from one company to another. There are, in my opinion, lots of other factors involved. For example: where would you have more chances to develop a successful career? In your actual job or in the other company? Do you have an understanding leader or do you have a bad boss? How does the company sees you, in terms of providing you life quality? How distant would you have to go to the other company?
To be honest, we sometimes would change even to a lower salary. If the actual environment is not favorable to us, we would find a way to change company and find somewhere we could fit better. It's just natural that things are this way. It's a hard decision, usually, and have to be thought upon.
Respectfully.

Yes, that will depends on our skills, the work environment, and the industry that we work for.
In the world today, those in the oil and gas industries are suffering because low oil price means not much jobs for them.
Even if they change from one company to the next in the same industry, they are not going to get higher pay

10% is too little for me to switch jobs. That is indeed a pull factor, but I also have to assess the push factors. There is also the fear of the unknown. Look, at the next job, you boss might be more horrible than the one in your current job. At the next job, your new colleagues might be less competent than the one in your current job. Your next company might have more theatrics (Singlish = wayang) than your current company. You never know until you jump ship.
