Mensa is a non-profit organziation for people with extremely high IQ's.
It is open to people who score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardized, supervised IQ or other approved intelligence test.
There are members in more than 100 countries.
There is a forum for exchanging ideas, lectures and discussions.
Are you a member or do you know someone that is?
I have a friend who lives in London, England who is a member.
There is an online test you can try if you are interested to see what your score would be.

I have been a member of British Mensa in the past, but I was quite disillusioned and simply left.
It was curiosity that enticed me to apply some 35 to 40 years ago. The application process consists of a test to complete at home followed by a supervised test. The home test had set times for each portion and an overall completion time, so I deliberately allowed less time for myself because there was little point in cheating and being invited to take a supervised test that way.
The supervised test was on a Saturday morning, so I persuaded one of the part time barmaids to cover my shift while I attended. About a week or so later I received the invite to enrol and was informed that my IQ was 168, which placed me in the top 2% of Mensa members.
This was my first disappointment because if I qualified in the top 2% then obviously the standard had been set too low to gain more members.
It did not take long for me to discover that Mensa had very little to offer me, so I simply did not renew the membership.
A few years later I was contacted and informed that Mensa had undergone several changes, so I rejoined, but nothing had really changed so that was my last year of membership.
The monthly magazine was interesting to some degree. The puzzles page was often worthwhile, but most of the articles were nonsense written purely in an attempt to impress.

My niece took some kind of test when she was in elementary school and they told my sister she was at the genius level and that explained why she was so bored in school. Someone told her (can't remember if it was the people who gave the test or a psychiatrist) that there is a very thin line between genius and madness.

This brings back some good memories from my yester-years. Grandpa would get me some IQ book and then would explain me the logic on the questions I would be wrong. Years later, I found this website and did take tests occasionally. Even completed one right now.
I could join but then, what is the benefit of it? I dont see much. In the normal world, I would still be considered insane

Does MENSA ever 'discuss the optimal options for governmental-action and forward their conclusions to the leaders involved'?

Oh no, i'm not a member LOL I don't think I even want to take the test. I hate taking IQ tests because I'm not that way wired, to be honest. I don't enjoy them at all. I always seem to score highly, although not high enough to be a potential MENSA member. All i know is, I'm not dumb and that's fine by me.

I do know of people who are members but none I know personally. My grand daughter was a member of the gifted and talented program here in my home town. That is probably the closer to Mensa I would ever get.

I am not a member and do not know anyone who is. But I don't mind taking the online test. I kind of enjoy taking tests. Gives a sense of achievement! I know it sounds weird!
