Give me some Skin

Have you heard about what you can do with your tattoo's after you pass on? A company preserves your loved ones tattoo's from their skin and you can take them home and frame them to keep forever. Now i don't have any tattoo's, but i know many people who have them and for a loved one it might bring some happiness to them. How do you feel about this?

There is a creepiness to that also. Cutting the skin and having it preserved. I understand it is a memory, but actually having the actual skin that the tattoo was on is a bit creepy to me.

I think it's gruesome. I would rather have a photo. If they want to leave art, they can paint me ap picture or will me a Picasso or something.

Its great. I kept a tattoo that I had forcefully removed(Mom made me) and kept it in tin foil for years..it was a very small one. Looked like bacon lolz. Then I kept it in my purse and that mad thing I was with threw my purse out in the road and got run over with a car and my tattoo was gone :(

@Rosekitty It was removed by a doctor..it was just a tiny tiny tattoo. Yes I had a small scar but when I got old enough to do as I please, I covered the scar with another tatoo hahaha Defiant much?

The first thought I had was skinning the loved one for the tattoo preservation. A lovely thought. :P

The first word that came to mind when I previewed this discussion was 'yuck' but as I read the comments I have to say I think the idea is morbid. I know I wouldn't like to think I had a person's skin framed like a picture. Anyway, how would they treat it so it wouldn't decompose and smell?

Two thoughts come to mind. You don't want it where children might ask where was this dad, where was this mom. Second thing...after first generation and second generation, what will be the fate of that frame.

Ew - a little weird. Somehow "shrinky dinks" come to mind - I imagine a piece of dehydrated skin design, hard as jerky, smelling like . . . well, I won't go there. I would think the person who passed on would want to take their tattoos with them!!

When a person is no more, I see no point in preserving the tattoo(s) s/he used to wear on his body.

I could not come across and do that. I don't have any tattoos but I know my sisters do and I don't think I would ever want to do that if they passed. Just makes me sick thinking about it.

Isn't that the same thing as selling body parts? Technically, that is? Still, what's the difference if you have human leather or cow leather? You didn't harm someone to obtain it. And, I would like to think that the person who was tattooed could grant permission, just as with organ donation, to have "artwork" preserved.

Gives me the creeps. Remindes me too much of Dr. Mengola's obsession with objects (lampshades etc.) made from the skin of his human failed experiments. To each is own.
