Do you cry?

Its crazy that people still think that men should not cry. Crying is an emotional response like smiling.. Normal people smile when they feel happy and cry when they are sad .
Do you still feel that men believe that its not manly to cry?
How do you feel around people who do not emote / show emotions at all?
What makes you cry?
I don't cry too often, but I do cry at loss and emotional pain.

You know what's interesting? That young boys have learned that crying is a sign of weakness too. A friend of mine recently told about her 6-year-old who cried when he was getting an injection at the hospital, and he got really, really upset afterwards because he said he didn't want to cry because he saw it as something "bad".

@cahaya1983 Call it social conditioning. We have drilled it into our kids that boys don;t cry.. to cry is sissy.. We start to blunt their emotions right from childhood. Blame it on us for telling them crying is abnormal.

I do cry when I think about something that happened that is sad, or if something devastating has happened in my life. Otherwise I don't cry all that much. There is nothing wrong with crying though, as it helps to get out the feelings you are having at the time. I do cry very easily when I do cry, as I am an emotional person. I wish I weren't, but i have been this way my whole life.

I am a crying baby even just watching a drama or TV shows,I cry so easily.
About men they rarely cry. They are strong enough to carry or bear a certain pitiful or awful situation.I have never seen my father cried because when he does he never let us see and I wondered now how does he looks like when he cry.

@sofssu Many have said that to me and I did not complain about it.That's what I thought too.We children we get our strength everyday because of them, our parents ,that's why a father wants to be strong and brave for the comfort of his Family.

Crying is okay. Wailing is not acceptable. If the pain gets too much for me or I feel like I'm dying, I will shed tears. In college when stress and anxiety made it so I was suffocating (because of symptoms related to my brain injury), I'd cry because I thought I might die and it was torture not knowing.
These days I will shed tears if I'm watching something emotional.

@OneOfMany I agree with you completely on this. One doesn't need to wail to express himself or herself.. tears are enough I guess. Wailing to me is a little dramatic.. though people may differ with me on that..

@OneOfMany That is possible when you are so averse to wailing . I still feel some empathy in some cases. though not always. Yesterday I was watching a part of some movie.. (I don't know which one..its always like that with me) The lead actress was howling.. because she was dumped... and it got me into a fit of laughter..so I am there with you on that.

@sofssu Wailing is awful. Although when people wail, my reverse empathy kicks in and I think it's hilarious!

Just as women are getting in mens' shoes so too will men realise the benefits of doing what women are doing and so cry they will and should.
