Happy Halloween all! Okay, yes, still a little early, but may as well get into the spirit. As many people do, I love watching scary movies around Halloween. Give me a little Exorcist with some Session 9 and a twist of Evil Dead and I'm a happy camper, but just rattling Horror flicks in a discussion is easy and can be a bit boring, so I'm looking for something a bit different in this discussion.
Have you ever been watching a movie that wasn't a horror flick, yet you saw a scene that was disturbing, odd, really out of place in that film? That's what I'd like you all to share today.
When I thought this up, I was at work thinking of this movie I remember watching a while back (can't remember how long). It was this cheap Indiana Jones knockoff called "The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck." Presumably this meant there were other adventures, but I'm thinking those are lost to time and good taste. The basic setup was something about a couple vacationing in Africa (or South America?). Their guide was trampled to death by an elephant and they needed a new one They found Buck drinking in a local bar and hired him as the new guide for a bunch of booze or something. They set out into the jungle and inevitably run into a tribe of cannibals and get captured. All the tropes that would would expect are present: Buck's got the wise cracking one-liners and devil-may-care attitude, the couple is completely clueless about what's going on at any given time, the tribesmen have never seen white people, yada yada. They get strung up and brought to the village and you figure Buck will come up with some clever plan to get them all to safety...
Which is where this seeming romp takes a crazy dark wtf turn that was disturbing and way out of place. Long story short, the tribesmen hunted the husband for sport while leaving Buck strung up, then took the wife to a bungalo where she was stripped and oiled. The head tribesman returned with the husbands severed head, then graphically raped the wife. Yup, that happened. Buck got loose the next day and "saved" the wife and they got away happily ever after :/
Pretty messed up. Okay, it's your turn now. Let's hear all those great, creepy weird moments you found in odd places.
