Coping with pain

Ever since early 2012, I have been coping with lower back pain. It all started when I fell on my tailbone, which really hurt, as I could hardly walk afterwards. I had to sit on a doughnut which is used for pain, and it helped some, and it took about 9 months to get rid of the pain. It then went into my lower back, and it has been there ever since. I don't like to complain as I am not the complaining type, but it hurts to even function at times. I can't stand up for to long as it hurts, and when I walk it is really painful. I am not one to go to the doctor either, as I won't take drugs, so I just deal with it, however, once in a great while, I will take an Aleve, which really helps, as it lasts 12 hours. I have tired different remedies but nothing has helped, and believe me it has been hard coping with the pain, but at least it doesn't hurt as much as it did at first, but it is still painful enough that I am having a hard time doing the things I need to do. I do love being in here though, and when I am in here, I don't even think about the pain.

Sorry to hear of your pain. I have had lower back pain for years. I do take meds for it. Think I'll take an Aleve right now. For me, what helps the most is moving, including cycling and hiking. If I sit for too long, I'm doomed.

I do get up and walk around, and I did take a walk this morning, and it did hurt when I got back, but it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I, like you have the same problem, that if I sit to long, it starts hurting, until I get up and move. I have learned to do that lately.

Well, it is just that my back has been bothering since I fell on my tailbone a few years ago. Once my tailbone got better, the pain then went into my back, and it has been there ever since. I am learning to deal with it though.

@birjudanak I do drink lots of water, and that isn't what the problem is. I fell a few years ago, and it went from my tailbone to my back, which hurts all the time. I have been coping with it though, and it will get better in time, that is for sure.

There are some exercises that could help you with your back pain. They are not violent and can be done in 15 minutes. They help fortify the muscles around the back bone. Maybe you could check at the web

I do try to walk, but it still hurts afterwards, but not as much as it used to. I might end up taking Aleve before I walk, which should keep the pain away for awhile anyway.

@rosekiss I didnĀ“t mean walking. There are some excercises that you do in the floor, tummy up, that help. I keep Naproxen (Aleve) in my nearest diningroom shelf.

@rosekiss taking the pain killer before the walk is a good idea. As you get stronger the pain will lesson, exercise is good. Although visiting the Dr. is a good idea too, at least once to have it checked out.

I have been wondering if there was something out there specifically for the back, so I will have to try that. I don't like taking them to often though, as I don't want to have any other health problems for taking them. When I get to the store after my rent comes in, I will buy some of that and see how it works, as at night it seems to be the worst.

@rosekiss There are creams that you rub where it hurts. They have diclofenac. Check. The name is generic and so it is cheaper, such as the Naproxen.

No I didn't as I didn't have insurance at the time, and I certainly couldn't afford it, not to mention, I am not even sure it would do any good anyway. Now, that i have medicare, I might just have to find a doctor and have it checked out, although, like I said, it isn't hurting as much as it used to, so maybe it is getting better little by little.

@marlina It hurts off and on, so not really. As long as I am in my easy chair, it is okay, but if I get up to do something, and it doesn't have to be anything where I have to bend over, it will start hurting. It is getting to the point I don't know what to do about it except go to the chriropractor or a doctor to have it checked out. I don't like doctors, but in some instances there are things that we can't do and need a doctor for.

I do too. I have been dealing with this for several years, and it has been bad at times, and other times it isn't quite as bad. Right now, it isn't to bad, but it can flare up again at anytime. I might have to get it checked out eventually.

@anh101 I keep praying that everyday. Some days are better than others, as it doesn't hurt very much, then on other days, it hurts so bad. I, sometimes, will take aleve or back and bodt, and it does help, but only temporary. I am coping wiyh it, and in time it will get better, with God's help.

I understand that kind of pain. I also suffer that and hate going to the doctor. having fallen on my tail bone once, I wonder if that could be the reason now.

I am thinking it is, as that is what happened to me, so it does seem entirely possible. I didn't think it would go into my back, but boy did it ever. The pain can be so excruciating at times.

I have been living with this pain for over three years, and it needs to go away, permanently. I do take Aleve once in awhile, and it does help for awhile, but then after 12 hours, it flares back up again. It can be excruciating at times, and at other times, it isn't quite as bad. never know from one day to the next how painful it will be.

Now that i have medicare and a supplemental, i just might do that. I just can't afford it otherwise. I will have to wait until I get my insurance card first, then I will check doctors out.

I have that too. It is so frustrating too, as it just hangs on and won't go away. It might be because of my age I suppose, but still it is hard to cope sometimes, as I just take it one day at a time.

With me, since I am older, it just takes way to long to heal. I have been dealing with this pain, soon to be 4 years, and I have had enough of it. I have been coping with it, but it hasn't always been easy. I know it will feel better one of these days.
