In 1 week my husband will be quitting his job of 11 years and moving to a new company.
Today he had the day off from his regular job, and he used the day off to go to the new job to learn the ropes. He will do the same thing next week, and then the following Monday he'll start full-time at his new job.
He was very tired today after working all day at his new job. He said there was a lot of physical stuff to do, moving things around and stocking shelves. They don't have a lot of employees... it's pretty much just the owner, the manager (which will be my husband), 2 delivery guys and a part-time secretary.
Most of the time my husband will be the only one in the store, so he's responsible for everything from sales, accounting, stocking... all of it.
Sometimes he'll be pretty busy.. other times it will be really slow.
But it's a change from what he's used to and I think in the long run he'll enjoy it a lot more than he likes his current job.
Plus we think the pay will be really good. He's starting off with a higher salary than he's currently making, but a few less hours so it may be a loss in money to start off, but he was told he'd get frequent raises if he works out well and so in time could be making more than he currently makes.
That will make our lives so much easier!

Great news on the new job even if there's a bit of a rough patch getting started. I'm curious, was there any reason why you didn't enter any specifics? What was he doing before? Factory? Trucking? Healthcare?
How about his new job? You said he's managing a new store. What kind of store? Grocery? Cell phone? Collectibles?
I work as a machine operator processing auto parts in a diecast plant. My job is very physical as I'm constantly machining parts in CNC machines making several hundred or thousand parts each shift.

I've discussed his job before and don't want to bore my followers with details they already know.

It sounds like he will enjoy it, I don't like being bored but it sounds like he will have lots to do customers or not. I wish him and you happiness with the new job.

He's not fond of being bored either... but I'm sure once he gets the hang of things he'll find plenty to keep him busy.

We're just hoping it's a job he enjoys. He has really hated his last job so that's been rough on him. This new job has no ladder to climb, but it will look better on his resume should he choose to move elsewhere after awhile.
