If You Were Offered to Manage a Start Up Business Would You Take It?

So you have a relative and he's leaving the country and he wants you to manage the small start up business he made a few months ago. Would you accept the responsibility and take the reins and follow his instructions and help run the business?
This was something I experienced a year or so ago. I didn't think it was good at the time but it would have helped me learn the ropes in doing business. I am thinking of going into business now and I feel I have very little idea on how and where to start.
I didn't take up his offer because I don't like being under him and learning all the tools of the trade plus the "dirty little secrets" of running a business. I don't think I was ready for it that at the time. I don't think I'll ever be ready for the dirty side of business but I should learn what I can in order to know how to run it the way I want to. Anyway, I only regret that decision by 20%.
If it happened to you, would you take the offer with no questions asked? What would make you (or what made you) accept it or not?

Oh that's one of the reasons I didn't take it too. I wasn't interested in the product at all. I wouldn't be motivated to work in the company if I am not excited about the product even if it was food. I was offered a share (I think) but I still didn't take it. Wasn't really paying attention whenever he talked about it.
I mean dirty like how business can get dirty. You know all the red tape and all that shizz...

@owstalaga Interest has to be there agree. Red tape there is too much and too many traps, things we need to do or find out about. It kind of turns me off about business too. I want to work not be a lawyer.

@Bluedoll Yeah, I want to earn and not have to go through all the hoops just to make money out of a business. I think a home based one is better, especially if it is really one's interest.

@crazyhorseladycx It is a food related business. Not too crazy with the kind of food though so I said pass.

Oh but you would already have employees that work with the relative and machines that would be operated by these people too.
Never thought of it that way (the technical and planning part) because I was not interested at all although it was tempting to manage a business out of the blue.

@owstalaga I don't find it tempting but more of easier to manage the technical part. it's just people stuff that takes more time.

I'd need a lot of time to think and do my own research before taking up such an offer (and considering how analytical I am that could take a very long time, hehe). If it's stable, promising and something I'm passionate about, why not?

Well it was promising, and of course start ups can't be stable yet... as for passionate well I wasn't passionate about the food product so I let it go.

@owstalaga Yeah that's something you should consider. For me, it's very hard to enjoy working something I'm not interested in.
