Forgot my debit card

I was so embarrassed, as I was at the checkout of one of our local stores, and I went to pay, and realized that I didn't have my debit card. She asked me if I had any checks, and I did. I always carry my debit card and my checks in my wallet, but I had inadvertently left my debit card at home. It was really embarrassing, that was for sure. I will make sure when I get home that I will put my debit card back in my wallet. I hope that I am not the only one who has ever done this. If anyone else has, then I won't feel so stupid for leaving it in the first place. Grrr

Glad you had your cheque book with you. I did an even worse crime. My husband had lent me his card for something. I forgot to return it. He went to get some groceries while I was at work and had no card. I wasn't popular. Fortunately he had our business card with him though.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one this has happened to. I have always had my debit card with me, but i left it on the computer stand, and I had to use my check book instead. I was able to get what i needed though, so everything was okay at that business anyway.

Yea, you are right about that, as that is my only method of payment. I have used it for a very long time with no problem, then to forget it like this, was a total embarrassemtn not to mention if I hadn't had my check book, I would have had to go back home and get my debit card. I probably should have, but I had to go several miles one way, so I didn't want to have to come home, grab it and go back. I won't forget it next time.

I use cash at the super market and there was one time when I bought more stuff than I could pay for. I forgot to take extra cash before going to the super market and I realised it when it was time to pay. I had to return some stuff and it was very embarrassing. There was a long line behind me waiting for me to sort it out.

I have never done that, but my daughter has had to put things back, and yes, she said it was embarrassing for sure. I won't buy anything that I don't have the money for, and I hope that I never haved that happen to me what happened to my daughter. I am definitely putting my card back in my wallet right away.

@rosekiss I could pay the rest with credit card but I thought it was best to put back the things that I needed less. It's a situation that I would want to avoid and I think that if it happens to you once, you will always be careful in the future. I am checking my wallet every time I leave home since then, I want to know exactly how much I can spend to avoid the embarrassment.

I very seldom write any myself, just for tithe for church basically, and I am glad I didn't take my check book out of my wallet, or i would have had to come all the way back home, to get my card, or checkbook, and then head back again. What a day it was for sure, but glad to know I am not the only one that it has never happend to.

You are so right about that. I am too. I don't ever take my checkbook out of my wallet even though I hardly use it, and boy am I certainly glad i had it. Yes it would have been embarrassing, as I would have had to come home, and get my card or checkbook, and then go back and pay for what i took to the checkout.

@Missmwngi I am glad i had my checkbook too, but having my debit card would have been better. I have since put the debit card back into my wallet, so I have it when I need it, possibly this week, to get groceries.

You sure are not the only one.
Once I was in a queue, and that was just before Chinese New Year.
Over here, Chinese New Year is a big affair for us, as important as Christmas in Western world.
The queue was long, and you could have spent half an hour queuing.
A guy was in front of me, and we had waited for 20 minutes. When his turn was near, he suddenly searched all his pockets, and realized that he did not bring his wallet.

Oh my, that had to be embatrrassing for him, especially with so many people waiting behind him. I am certainly glad that I am not the only one that has forgot something that was used for paying. It won't happen again, I hope, as I put the card back in my wallet where it will stay unless i need it to pay a bill online, then I will put it right back. That was just to much embarrassement for one day.

My case is just the opposite Here where I live not many have arrangements for payment by debit card.It happened to me once when I did not have cash and so the shop owner took me to a place known to him where I could deposit money there and they would then give them cash.

Well, at least you were able to pay for what you purchesed. I did too, but ended up using a check there at that business, but the next business, I had to use my credit card, as my check wasn't honored. I wasn't happy about using my credit card either. I will make sure I have my debit card the next time I leave the house.

I've had to get into the habit of double-checking my wallet before I leave the house. My toddler loves going through my purse and taking everything out of there, so if I'm not careful I walk out of the house with everything from debit cards to my license missing.
I actually just had to call Bluebird's customer service number to have them send me a new card since she managed to lose it.

Such is the life of a toddler. Been there and done that one. they are sure inquisitive, and will get into everything. At least you are smart enough to check to make sure you have everything. i never thought to check mine. I wish I had, as it would have saved me lots of embarrassement that is for sure.

I am glad to know that I am not alone in this. Believe me, being embarraased like that, taught me that I better check and make sure I have everything before I leave the house.
