Using Google photos as a file cabinet

A few months ago, Google announced Google Photos. Unlike many other similar services like Apple's iCloud, Dropbox etc. Google imposes no limits on the number of your photos, the length of videos or even the total storage space used. It's all free (they do limit photo resolution to 16 megapixels and video resolution to 1080p but that's unimportant for most of us).
I store all my photos and videos there, but I also use it as a filing cabinet for important stuff like medical records and so on. I just take pictures or scans of the things I want to save. When I upload them to Google photos, it lets me organize them in "collections" which lets me easily find anything I'm looking for.

sounds handy. I have used dropbox to transfer files to friends occasionally - such storage is useful and generally quite secure

@pcunix That sounds like a good idea. I keep my photos on the iCloud and another copy on my laptop. I back up the laptop from time to time on flash drives.

@ElizabethWallace iCloud also can have two factor authentication, but they do limit your storage.
