I just heard that the PM Beef Plant here will be closing its doors and 250 people will be out of work next month. I doubt they will be out of work long as so many companies here need people to apply for jobs as they are short handed. I would guess some people would need to be retrained for some other position in another company. The hog companies seem to be looking for people quite often also, that may be a posibility for some of the out of work people. For the maintance people I know that the Ethanol plant never has enough maintance people and they are always working overtime there. Then there is the Good Samaratian Nursing Home always can use cooks and dietary people along with nursing assistants. Also there is a State run home for severly disabled people who never seem to have enough people and are usually looking for at least two or three people to fill those positions. Then there is the hospital which is having a new addition added on and they will be needing more people. Also there are clerical jobs for the city and post office I have seen posted. There is going to be a hotel built and they will need to fill positions also. These are just some of the places I know that are always looking for help.

@Marcyaz Wow, and just before the holidays hit. Hopefully the works will find jobs quickly. The hard part will be lay off periods after the holidays. Good to know thank you for sharing.

Lots of jobs where you are Marcy. That is fabulous. There are jobs enough here, but no one wants to do them.

@TiarasOceanView They had so many job listings in the paper and not man who will fill them right now. I know most of the younger people want to leave and go to the big cities. I know of three people who are leaving this week for Mankato two to go to school and the other person had a job offer up there.

Why would they close a perfectly good beef plant? I think I buy enough to keep at least one plant open lol

Nice of you to think of so many options for them, and nice of you to share them here. That will prompt more people to move to your town.

That would be nice if more people did move here and there is a new housing project going up also. Which makes it nice when people move here.

it is sad to hear that people will be losing their jobs.. let's just hope that they will not find a hard time looking for a new one since many companies are in need of extra hands too

Wow Marcy, your town seems to be thriving and creating a lot of jobs for its people. That's fantastic, when you consider just how hard it's become to get even the most menial of jobs these days!

Lol! its really bad to know about that. I am very sad for them. In india i wont even imagine how people can afford losing job. It will be really miserable in India. I am glad to know that their will be other job oppurtunities in there.
