Whats The Point?

Like seriously I have opened a few suggested post and they were literally a sentence long. Whats the point of asking a question like, Do you like MyLot? Then suggesting it like its a topic I would actually read and respond. I dont mean to be rude or anything but Whats the point of posting a sentence and expecting feedback on a post like that??

I have experimented with this and I have found that if I don't suggest my discussions I get very few responses but if I send out those suggestions a lot of people respond and not just hte ones the suggestions went to. So I send to all my followers. If it bothers any of them I expect they will let me know.

I don't bother with any discussions like that, as it has no substance, and the question can be answered if they would only read the faq's and gujidelines. I have seen different discussions, with only one word or one sentence. I really don't have anything to say to those kind at all.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I do agree with you. It just comes down to the fact that the new users just start posting without reading thefaq's and guidelines. The rest of us read them, so what makes them exempt?

I see those way too often. I don't even bother responding to once sentence post as there is no point..They should have a limit of what you can post and not just one word sentence etc.

Some of us are quite capable of fleshing out a discussion. We weren't born with that ability but learned it over time. I know when I first started on mylot, in the last century I was afraid to start discussions because I figured no one would be interested in what I had to say. But finally I knew I had to get started. A lot of nice people helped me along the way, some by kindly pointing out where I had gone wrong and some by telling me off but good. I count all these as my good friends now.
My point here though is that I try to lead by example. If someone starts a discussion by saying I am new to mylot or something similar I try to write a paragraph or two welcoming them and letting them know a little of what to expect. I figure they will see that more information is better than just a simple question.

The point is I guess to get feedback about the site and it can actually be a good topic IF written right and not 1 sentence. Obviously we like MyLot or we wouldn't be here discussing lol.

got that suggestion too. I guess if I know something to say, I respond to it, or just move on. No use bothering about it. It will only waste time.

Exactly..........
I totally agree with you buddy.......
I suggest you should message him/her in private rather then giving response to that person in public......
Coz after all you don't want him / her to get hurt so did you might have responded to their post but then again you are trying to humiliate them in front of every one by pointing out their mistake.....
What's your opinion on this???

I think some people post it so they can start conversing.. not everyone is used to writing and blogging..but to get a feel of it..it's just their way to get started.. and in my opinion, those who are experienced enough should encourage them..

I have a feeling that the way to succeed here is to post discussions that will interest people. That means asking open questions and being controversial - saying things that people might feel strongly about one way or the other.
However, there is little point in saying something that will only get one reaction, after which nobody will contribute because the obvious answer has been made.
I remember having this trouble years ago when I was a committee member of my school's debating society - there was no point in debating a motion that did not open itself to a variety of reactions.
