Hello all
In case you are here and have no clue why this is part II, please refer to the link at the end of the discussion for the Part I.
Now that I was sure that wifey has not taken the pack to the school, I was quite puzzled as to where could that go and is there any other ghost in the house (beside me that is). And even there was one, it was quite unmannerly of him not to place it back at the original location after using it
But then the fact was it was missing. I used the neem tree twig as an alternate brushing method. And put the water for coffee to boil. As it would take a while, I thought to sweep the kitchen and the common room (that I use for work and it also serves as the drawing room if anyone visits).
And while I was sweeping, I found that missing piece. No, not under the refrigerator, neither under the dining table nor under the small cot we have in that room. It was under the Steel Shelved Frame that is used as the place where the non-used books, notes, clothes etc are all packed up. How could it possibly get there?
Anyways, when I pulled it out, I saw that the tube was gnawed RatsIII But what would they be needing that toothpaste for? Do their babies need some plastic to chew as they teeth? or even do the rats brush? I am clueless on that.
When my wife returned from work I showed her the tube, and asked about all details I could, to trace out how things might have happened. This morning I have been on the cleaning spree and yes, I have now authentic proof that there is a family of rats in the house. And there are at least 6 of them.
My weekend is going to see me turn as a murderer again and somehow I don't like it...
What do you think about the need of rats to have that pack of toothpaste?
Have a great and safe time
Cheers,
Detective Sids
Case solved.
Hello all [em]happy[/em] When you wake up early in the morning, amongst the first things that you should do is brush your teeth. Right? But I rarely wake up...

@much2say They got so smart already that they avoided the poison laced food pieces that we had put up for them
I now dont want their teeth to be any good. So no dental floss or even the toothbrush. I need their tooth to fall, and maybe then they might move on to another place that has dentures to offer

Responsible
I hope washing their teeth does not make them sharper to gnaw and make a way out of the rat trap that we have.
I am scared about the fate of those old books that ar now not in use and even the clothes that we have stocked to donate - we do this annually.

We did a census survey
No. Seriously, the last time we killed them, there were three of them, when we had seen 4. So one escaped. A few days before this incident, wife said there are two fat rats (she had seen them at the same time). I did see some thing very small, almost gray in color that day (when the Toothpaste went missing). As I was searching for the damages done by trying to shake and move the packaged cartons, I did see two more. This is how I arrived at 6. And when we did actually clean up, there were 3 baby rats that were in the cartons. The two fat ones are still messing around. And at times we do get to see the smaller one. Unfortunately, they have become smart. They have not eaten the poison laced food that we kept around for them on the days that followed. Wife does not have a holiday until next sunday. So probably, no cleaning will take place until then.

@thesids I thought you had collected hair and did a DNA analysis.
Rats and mice are very smart, and you can hardly use twice the same poison against them if one has escaped. They generally send one of them to taste the food, and if everything is right 24 hours later, the other ones eat the poisoned food. It is why poisons for rats work very slowly.

@topffer agent 008 is much underpaid, not anywhere even a fraction of 007. So no funds for DNA sampling
My wife suggested that we change the brand that we had for them. The first time, the results were good, so we got the same brand this time. We also had one rat trap that we had set up initially, but it did not work. Your mention of smartness of rats helped me understand the scenario better.
And... I think.... wife is always right I should get the other rat poison brand

Oh so it's the rats as the culprit . Hmm , they want their teeth to be strong also so they can further gnaw on stuffs .
You must do something for the rats to be eradicated . Us, we used the grain like poison for rats to the places where we knew they visit . Luckily it worked .

I had tried the rat trap earlier, but it flopped. These rats have gotten used to the sight of those traps and are now smart enough to take an alternate route.
I will have to get the poison sooner. I found that the books and the clothes that we had safely packed, are no gnawed. Tomorrow, I will have to actually find out the damage they have done.

Okay for some reason I seem to have missed this post and just got around to read it today.
Yikes! A family of rats in the house! I hope the only thing they vandalized was the toothpaste tube and not other things.

They have eaten up about 25% of the packages (old books and clothes). we had a harrowing time cleaning up the mess, but luckily there are still some clothes in good condition and we would be handing them off to the needy this weekend.
Unfortunately, this time, they did not like to have those poison laced food that we had for them

glad you found it early rather than later so you go on a rat elimination spree before they breed more

@thesids live trap of some kind and move them very very far away? I am fine with extermination as long as whatever method is immediately and as pain free as possible

@Jessicalynnt The last time there were around, we did get one of those traps - but the newer generation of rats around seems to have become aware. I mean we kept it for three consecutive days and failed to catch even one. So finally, FIL suggested that we used the Rat Poison. And as that was something new, the next day, there were 4 rat corpses.
We still have that rat trap and I would be happy if it worked
