How do you feel about torture?

I was reading this morning that the psychologists who designed (and profited from) torture by the CIA are being sued by the ACLU. I hope they win. Those people violated their medical ethics and general human morality. I think they and everyone else who allowed this belong in jail.

Ah yes, but in response to your earlier post, 'the government' made them do it!

Instead of "First, do no harm" they believe in "First, make some money". People like that are pathetic.

Torture is for the evil who get off on it, not for humans.

It is a blatant human rights abuse and in war time it is a war crime. I was in a cult that practiced brainwashing - which was itself developed as a CIA torture and mind control practice. What happened to me effectively has its roots in such torture classes

Torture is not effective, people confess to stop the pain! I am glad they were sued.

It might have been helpful in some situations but that does not mean torturing is good

No, it's not helpful ever. Aside from that, it also makes other countries feel justified in doing the same thing. It's pointless, wrong and dangerous.

@pcunix I guess the good thing is many people would not support torture and so there is no place for it now

@Missmwngi I'm not sure that's the case. I'm not convinced that we have stopped.
