A total lack of sensitivity

I've been visiting Twitter to try to get more information about the accident I mentioned in my previous post, and one tweet really annoyed me. Some insensitive person tweeted that she was glad she uses the train, otherwise she'd have been caught in the traffic for two hours. Who cares about traffic delays when two people are dead?
I was so tempted to tweet what I said above, but I don't want to pick a fight with someone I've never met. But I sure hope that somebody else puts her in her place.
Our radio is reporting a horrific accident in my city this afternoon. A temporary pedestrian bridge over a nearby highway collapsed onto the highway below...

People don't think about others. Maybe they just don't think. They tweet out frustration and anger and vapid observances. But to consider the traffic delay and actually post about it was insensitive and you'd think she'd have realized that and not said it, even if she was thinking it.

@Gina145 It happens in 'real life' too unfortunately.

some folks jest don't seem to think 'bout such sadly. that's one'f the reasons i dislike all this 'instant' schtuff. i've found most need a coolin' off period, so to speak, to make certain their words 're not malicious.
that's indeed a most horrific accident 'n my heart goes out to all.

@crazyhorseladycx It's crazy how easy it is to post an instant reaction to everything. I'm far better off without internet on my phone because that option isn't available to me except when I'm at home.

Our nation's infrastructure is falling apart and people are dying as a result. That is the real heartbreak in this story. I agree with AnjaP that people just don't think much about others and their suffering. I agree that it was an insensitive Tweet.

@DeborahDiane Every time I think about it I'm amazed that there weren't more injuries. I guess it's lucky that it didn't happen at peak hour.

@DeborahDiane It's not just your nation. Things like that seem to be happening everywhere. I didn't realise that it was such a problem in the States, but in South Africa this kind of thing seems to be quite common. This incident was just a bit different from the norm because the bridge fell onto a major highway.

@Gina145 - That is horrible that it fell onto a major highway. It is shocking how many things are starting to fall apart.

@just4him You may be right. I don't know who she is so I'm not really in a position to comment. I'd like to think it was just a comment made out of frustration in the heat of the moment, but some people really only care about themselves.

@kevin1877uk People reacting like that is something I'd rather not know about too.

Some people are just selfish and insensitive. It's becoming increasingly obvious on social media - people make stupid statements when tragedies and disasters happen.
