It will not stop me!

Hubby needs to do a lot of things here, like hook up the cook stove and dryer. We have lots of small appliances and we are cooking with those. While we were moving I got so tired of fast food and eating out. Not having a cook stove will not stop me from making a meal. I have a roaster that is electric. I pulled out ten pounds of chicken legs and thighs from the freezer. They are cooking now. I seasoned them with salt, pepper and cumin. I put in celery and onions and some salsa and brown rice. We will have a home cooked meal. Hubby cooked steaks on an electric griddle and we had microwaved potatoes and guacamole last night. There is nothing like the taste of homemade food.

When we moved here, we gutted the kitchen - so there was no kitchen for a while! I too got sick of eating out all the time - I actually felt grossed out after a while. Homemade food is much better - and healthier too!

I am lucky to have small electric appliances. I just need to get busy to put dishes away to allow for counter space for preparation.

Ten pounds of chicken legs? I don't think I have ever seen ten pounds of chicken legs all at once.

The kitchen is going to be a major project because that is where we are going to open up doors to join the two houses.

Oh I couldn't agree with you more. When my BF and I decided to tear out the old kitchen and build a new one we ate out every night for almost 3 months. Considering both of us work and we didn't have a lot of time to spend on the project it took a long time for the two of us to complete. I know how you feel when you can finally cook a good home meal again it tastes so good.

We are still roughing it in a way, but we do not have to eat out. A total tear down of a kitchen would be a massive undertaking.

Knowing how good a cook you are it must have been a great relief for you to eat food cooked by you.

I'm glad that at least you have a roaster and griddle. It must be good to cook your own food. Enjoy the chicken.

You said it! The wonton soup that my wife prepares for us tastes better than those in Asian restaurants.

I will put a lot of it in small containers to reheat. It will be about four meals for us.

I'm weird because I love eating out. We haven't done it in awhile. In fact today was the first time I got fast food in probably 2 months, but I only got it because we ran out of ham which I generally use to make my sandwiches. I have not had time to run to the store, so I don't have ham and I was starving today.

I agree with you, there is nothing like a good home-cooked meal. Last year we had to make do when our kitchen was being renovated. One day I remember desperately wanting a roast beef supper, so I made it, but it was prepared on our gas grill outside. I had to pay careful attention to the clouds that day because when the sun was out it would change the temperature on the grill. Since then I've also baked cakes out there and made quiches successfully. I'm glad that you are getting settled and enjoyed supper at home.
