The Silliest and the most Stupid Mistake I ever made this year

Hello All. Those who know what happened about 30 odd minutes back, from now, would know what I am talking about. One of my dearest MyLot friends has her birthday next month, yes, Next Month. And I got it horribly wrong. Somehow, I got so "over-confident" and started to believe that today was a month ahead in time And the worst mistake was done - I not only set up the discussion, I even sent out a couple of PMs and even Suggested that discussion to many around. What a Mess I created Luckily @Berniezeitler and @LadyDuck were kind enough to point out the stupidity I had committed and thankfully it was not that late. I decided to kill that discussion right there as I knew I sounded horribly stupid and could have hurt at least some if not many. Yes my mistake. Those few of you dear friends who had responded, have lost something but then I do realize that you dear souls would not have preferred that others took me to be a mess. So thank you for being understanding. I told the entire episode to my wife and she said - "You have always messed with dates, be they about birthdays or even the anniversary dates.. and I think there is something really wrong with your brain" I dont know if that is true or not, but yes, this time it could have gotten get real bad. Overconfidence is always bad and unhealthy. What remedies do you have for me? And if you do not have any, have you ever got into such a state where your silly overlooking of something has resulted in something drastic? Regards, Sid.

Hi bro Honestly I don't have anything for you that can be helpful to you. As I am same kind of you in remembering birthdates. But I must say I totally forget them, so no chance of making this early mistake. But no worries. As this kind of thing is normal. It happens. Anyone can make such mistake. I don't remember any specific one right now but even I have make many silly mistakes like this in hurry and excitement. So the only solution is to control ourself. lol

True. As you know me since so many years now, you would understand me better and my miserable situations with numbers Luckily, the error was brought to notice when when there were 4 responses. And I had suggested it to at least 25 people I dont know what happens to those other 21 - and what they would see on the suggestion. Worst was that I was still so very confident that today was Nov 15th I think I need to get myself checked and repaired

@thesids @akp100 Don't you have a calendar at home. Just mark the dates and put a tiny name on it. @thesids Lesson learnt: You can't add good + evil. They will really screw up your brain. You really need to decide which side you're on, me or @DaddyEvil.

@Jlyn10 Jlyn? When did I become your nemesis? I am quite confident that I would rather not be against anyone. Especially not Wonder Woman! I already believe YOU could kick my bum and if you can, Wonder Woman would have even LESS trouble!

That is so warm of you. But it looked quite silly a thing. I am wondering what if no one pointed it out, it stayed and then, the one whose Birthday it was arrived and broke the ice

@thesids Oh I am sure she would have appreciated the gesture just the same. It was the thought that counted.

I didn't see the discussion, but you are not the only person who makes that kind of mistakes. Last year I did the same thing, but the other way around. I mixed up the months and wished my friend a happy birthday on November 15 and she said: "Thanks, but my birthday is October 15"

@thesids I have the same problem. I write birthdays down in my phone, but in many cases I still forget people's birthdays or wish them happy birthday on the wrong day. I also have your birthday in my phone and meant to write you on Facebook, but I forgot as usual Next year I will try hard to remember all birthdays

In all honesty such a scenario has happened with me some years back. I had forgotten the correct month and I wished my cousin sister on the same date but the next month. She was furious - first because I had not wished her he Birthday on her day and second I had got her a present on a day that was not her birthday But numbers and dates dont go easy with me still after so many mishaps

I was not here today, and I did not saw the discussion. As it was well intentioned, nobody can send you a reproach for it. It was not something stupid, just a mistake, and committing mistakes is human.

@thesids oh dear you mean you are not l ike the little boy told me"Maam we are all human beans"? he meant beings but the had a so uthern drawl. I had been in an argument over the cost of something in Walmart and when he told me that i and the clerk both laughed and then she added it up again and i was right.

Oh, I completely missed this whole thing!! I would have been sad to have missed a birthday celebration - but good that it's a bit early! I see in a comment that this was for our Hatley! The sweet thing is you thought of a dear friend - even if it were on any other month - that's the important part right? I just write all these dates on a calendar - and each year when I get a new calendar, I transfer all the birthdays onto the new one first thing. Please remind my mother-in-law - she ALWAYS forgets my birthday!

@thesids HA! but still ! Every year (and I've known her since about '86) she has never remembered my birthday. She ALWAYS asked me in the middle of the year when my birthday was, and when the time came, she completely forgot.

@much2say I got a plan activated. You can try that too. I asked my wife to remind her on my birthday so that she can at least wish me on the day. Though the idea was to get my wife do it without my being aware, my wife messed it - she calls her up right in front of me, tells her that it is my birthday and hands over the cell phone to me

Gladly, the lady in whose Birthday I started celebrating a month earlier, had not turned up by the time I Deleted that discussion. So I think I am safe for now. Now the big question for me is - if I will remember the right date and post the discussion

@SIMPLYD *Searching* Yes, it has a calendar facility. Similar to the application I have on the Desktop installed But the entire process is clumsy and not fool proof. I can enter any date for anyone's birthday

So did you do a whole post about her birthday? Forgive me for saying, but if so it's a good job you deleted it as it says in the rules that we mustn't ''post about personal milestones such as birthdays and anniversaries. Personal Messaging is best used for that''. Just sayin' - wouldn't want you to get into trouble.

@jaboUK @thesids If all it consists of is "happy birthday to @myLotmember", then no, it would not be permitted. If you can go further with it and turn it in to a discussion, then go right ahead :)

My Logic - If I post about your birthday, how does that make it a personal milestone? If it was me posting about mine, I can understand it is my birthday and as such a Personal Matter or a Personal Milestone But still, thanks for bringing this (the regulations) up. Maybe @goAskAlice can be the best one to suggest and clarify our confusions if any

@thesids Sids? Why are you taking this so hard? What am I missing here? Is there some bad luck associated with getting a birthdate wrong? I would have just laughed if someone had made a mistake about when my birthday was...

The lady is one of my dearies and I regard her because of her age and many other things. I could not dare play a prank like this with her. Maybe that is the reason, I freaked. On a rethink, I do feel, she might have enjoyed it

Don't be too critical on yourself here. We all make mistakes every now and then; here and there. So there's really nothing to this mess up which incidentally is before the actual date than after the fact. It is a good deed too so I am sure your friend could understand and appreciate your efforts. Anyway, I am sure something good had taken place with this premature release - an early alert for the circle of the actual date. Who knows this might just turn out to be the best birthday for your friend.

The only remedy is just laughing out loud on it. That was really hilarious mistake but no, it's okay. We do have flaws on certain things. And I guess your wife has sense of humor too when said that I remember the day when I went to my friend's wedding. I tried to get the best look and everything was just neat and perfect until I come to her place and her home looked very quiet. The wedding date was not that day but one week later. That was very embarrassing

Oh Lord. you mean you really reached the venue prepared for the wedding a week earlier. That must have been quite a thing. Never experienced that though, but going with how things are happening at my end, it does not seem a distant thing. hopefully wifey remembers the dates for me

Yeah, she did not get the chance to see the discussion. I removed it before her time here. I know, if she was my age, I could have happily used that discussion as a prank on her. But then, at 89, and a lady whom I admire and respect so much, I cannot even think of attempting a prank on her.
