When did you start getting grey hair

It started in my early 20 when I was writing my thesis for my pre doctoral program.. It was a period of severe stress .. research wasn't going the way I wanted it to.. and I never slept for months together.. By the time I reached my mid thirties was almost 80 grey .. and now I am almost completely grey. I have to color my hair every week .. My boys hate it if I don't.
I have noticed people grey much earlier these days.. when did you start to grey? do you color your hair regularly?
Would you like to let it be natural if you still have young children?

@AbbyGreenhill You mean you were coloring your hair so much that you are not aware when the gray crept in.. what made you give up coloring all of a sudden?

bless yer heart, stress can speed that up fer some folks. my aunt was completely grey by the time she was 19. fer myself? hard to tell when i started gettin' grey coz it sorta blends in with the red 'n blonde. i'll find one e'ery now 'n then 'n wonder how i missed it, lol.
's fer colorin' o'er that grey? i say if'n it makes ya feel better, go fer it. i'd not factor in havin' young'uns 's many parents these days're startin' their families later in life 'n many 'f their friends folks're prolly grey ('r color, lol) 's well. do, do what makes ya happy

@crazyhorseladycx Oh wow.. that is nice to have gray hair that blends with your natural hair color. I am okay with not coloring my hair. But my boys insist that I do.. Its a pain to have to color my hair every week though.

@sofssu i'd be tellin' those young fella's to back off, lol. 'sides that colorin' all the time aint good fer yer scalp nor hair. all those chemicals...jest the thought makes me shudder.
if'n it didn't blend in, i'd not fret o'er it neither. i think such is jest'a natural process'f life.

I believe too much stress could be a factor. In my case, it is not stress but age factor. I started getting grey hair when I reached my golden year. At first, I need not dye because they were not very visible but now if I don't dye I look older so I dye my hair whenever necessary.

@TheHorse It would have been good to have my genes have their way.. mom had very little gray at my age.. I remember that her hair was the same color until she reached her mid fifties.. it was later that her hair turned completely silver.
My dad had black hair until the end, but it was thinning out.

I first noticed it in my 30s. I wasn't studying my hair that closely, so I don't remember exactly when.

It wasn't until I hit my 40s. And each year I seem to get a bit more, but luckily for me you can't really see it unless I pull my hair back. However, I know it's there so yes, I dye it. My hubby wants to me to let it go, but sorry I guess I am vain when it comes to that. I do think if it all went gray then I wouldn't have a problem with it. It's that gray against my dark hair that drives me insane.

@TexanTornado You are still too young to let it go gray.. same here my natural hair color is black and a few streak against mostly grey looks yuk.. I guess i will color my hair for some years now.. or maybe I will change my mind. Do you think it is vain to color your hair? I don't.

@sofssu That is the way I view it too. It's enough that the grandkids make me seem older than I am. Well, mine is a dark brown almost black, so the gray sticks out like a sore thumb. I think if it the gray would to come in more and start to blend (sort of like salt and pepper) and not like a skunk, I would let it go natural. Do I think it's vain? Nah, I it view more as a small way of making myself feel good. Sort of like going out and buying a nice blouse or a pretty dress. Every six weeks I go and get my hair done, and that is my treat for the month and half.

@TexanTornado Mine grows rapidly.. I need to color the roots as often as once a week. That really is a pain.. but I am okay both ways.. I am sure I will get to a point when I think silvery gray is right for me a few years down the line.

@Jessicalynnt That is really a natural solution to the problem. With my dark almost black hair it really shows up.. I love salt and pepper .. how ever.. mine would be totally salt and I am a little young for that .. right now.

@sofssu I figure I might dye mine, or if I go white, have it treated to be super clean white, cause if I am going there,it's going to be with grace

@DianneN I agree that when I reach my 60 I will let it go natural .. but right now my younger boy is still in high school and feels that I should color my hair.. believe me I'd rather be free of the pain of coloring every week.. My hair grows rally fast and the roots show up.

Around 40 plus. For a while I let it be but then slowly started dyeing it to suit my colour.

@allknowing I agree gray doesn't really suit all skin colors. I look so pale and ghostly when I don't color my hair.

I've had a gray streak on one side since I was a teenager. It's gotten wider over the last several years, and I've noticed a few more scattered throughout my hair recently.
I guess I'm kind of weird, because I actually like the color it's turning. It's more of a silver than gray. I don't have any plans to start coloring it at this point. It's going to look pretty awesome when it's completely silver.

I have never colored my hair. I had one lonely white strand from the age of thirty until now at 53 I have a sprinkling.

@Tampa_girl7 That is really wonderful. I would have been okay with that I guess. would you color your hair if it become a lot grayer?

I don't have grey hairs yet, but, man, I need to find a remedy to stop my hairs from vanishing!
