Learning Something New Every Day About Emoticons

I'm not sure how literate the rest of you are when it comes to internet emoticons, but some of them really leave me stumped. I have a basic emoticon vocabulary that gets me by and avoid those I'm unfamiliar with. One of the ones here on myLot I had no idea of the meaning of was the one depicting wub Okay, maybe the hearts in the eyes should have been a clue, but I'm a bit slow at times when it comes to such things. Anyway, today I decided to look it up. Thanks to an internet site I found totally dedicated to explaining emoticons I now know that wub means love. How was I supposed to know that? Heavens, it's only in the last year I've discovered they're called emoticons and not smiley faces. At least I know now. I shall continue to look up the meanings of others that I'm confused about So, I'm proud to be an ongoing learner, even if it is something as little as emoticons. How's your knowledge of the fun little additions we can use in our writing here? Have you worked them all out?

The emoticons here are the same ones we always had on this site, except we used to have to type out the code. The new thing is that it lets you copy and paste into comments, which they never did in the old myLot.

I have never used an emoticon on any device. This is something that has simply never appealed to me.

Wub does not mean the kind of love a heart denotes. I use it when I am kind of stumped.

Confession here: my knowledge on the emoticons topic is practically null. However my knowledge on history has improved a lot since I have the Internet. I would have never noticed the hearts in the eyes if you had not mentioned that fact. Thanks.

Val, just like you I did not know the meaning of wub, but the graphic was self explaining, what I would like to know it is if we can create more emoticons.

Like you, I don't have a clue about many of them. I didn't know the wub one either, I wondered, but didn't put two and two together. I was thinking more like a puppy following one around or something.

I have been dealing with them for a few years on Facebook and now built into my new iPad. I remember using certain keys on my computer to form a few such as :) ;) :( etc. I know the meaning of each, but still learning. I wonder what will be next?
