Last evening there was a show about elderly parent being denied food by the daughter in law, and son doing nothing.
I was working in the other room.
Dad called me and I sat with him. We have had differences, plenty of them, in fact, more than the most.
But I've never come to a stage where I thought my parent should give away his property to me, when he is alive. Of course, I established it. Nevertheless, not when he is alive. Only when he is no more.
That too for keeping abusive folks away. Dad wrote the will, much against what his relatives advised. He was told he'd be ill-treated. Nothing happened.
Dad said daughters are the best. I could only feel touched that he thought so.
Indians, do yourself a favor. Don't kill little girls.

We all need to quit killing our babies. Who knows how great they could become. I am glad your dad showed you some appreciation.

If I could have a choice, I would have a girl as a child.
Long back on some discussion, I did mention that this not only stems from the fact that we had no girls as our siblings and the home was never complete. A girl in Indian Society is not only the Annapurna (Goddess of Food and Well Being) but also the Laxmi (Goddess of Wealth) of the house.

sounds a pretty grim documentary - so many people treat relatives with such cruelty - very sad.

How could anyone with a heart do that? That's just awful. You're lucky, your father sounds like a great man.

Despite all the goings on your father loves you deep down! It is deplorable the way some people treat the elderly it is so shameful.
